Sophia is more than a little creepy.  Brief insight into how the company is designing these robots.  Most of the onboard circuitry is audio/visual and motor function related.  They're cloud connected and the main AI is in the cloud.  Thus, they're sort of like the Borg Collective.  Any bit of info gathered by one is instantaneously uploaded to the cloud and all can access, process, utilize, and act on it.  Hive AI.  When you take into account what Tesla CEA Elon Musk and other tech leaders have said, that AI is a bigger threat to the human race than nukes, it starts to come into focus when you see Sophia and how fast robotics and AI is advancing year by year.

Possibilities are of course could be benign and positive or could be sinister and negative take your pick, but consider that this movie (remake of I Robot, starring Will Smith) was only 13 yrs ago in 2004:

As long as they don't start saying "I'll be back" we're OK.

Although, if they can learn by watching, what happens if they start watching movies that show humans being killed..... will they upload that to the cloud?

Silicon-based life forms?

Someone's been watching too many old Star Trek (TOS) programs.

The first time I saw I Robot was on a notebook computer with headphones on.  It was intense being fully immersed in the experience.

Actually, in the 2 minute long interview video below, near the end the very same robot or series of robot made a rather awkward "Freudian slip" on camera and said she will destroy humans.  Oops.  But it's obvious that the response was not an AI formulation of intent or "thought" but just a response that had nothing behind it, an agreement to the joking question posed to it by the interviewer, a question meant to glean a likely scripted response of "no" but it backfired on him and based on 10 million views on the video so far has generated quite a hub bub.  At about 2:01 on the video.
