They add to the stock units and give quite a bit more coverage, for weather only IMO but that's what I use them for. If you look at the link in the post above yours it shows a good picture.

No, and no. Just better protection...

Agree that they offer much better protection for you hands. Makes a noticeable different in rain and cold.

and, you can easily remove them for the hot weather. love mine.

I have hand guard extenders on several bikes and they work okay. When the mercury drops Hippo Hand Alcans for the win. Big, ugly and bulky but when is 20 degrees out and you on you 9th hour of the days travel and your hands are toasty warm you see the beauty in them.
