I know Cushman enthusiasts / collectors go "GA-GA" over these little bikes, but frankly speaking, $5,000+ 5% Buyers Premium.....for an 8HP lawn mower engine is a bit spendy...    :boozing:

I had the cheapie Cushman (Allstate) step-thru @ 3.5 or 4 HP. It would top out at 35 mph. Thought the Eagles were a bit faster??

"Hell Hath No Fury...." like a 1950's Allstate Step-Thru!!

Yes, the 8HP Cushman Eagles were a bit faster...but not by much...

The second photo looks like mine; '52 model if I recall? We were moving off the farm and had to sell my little mare. Missed her, but the well used scoot was pretty cooool!

I walked past a boat dealer that sold them and used to stop on my way home from school.I seem to recall a claim that they could go 50.A year or so later an older guy let me ride his Allstate up and down his alley. At the time you could get a scooter license at14 in IL.I was 14 but had no money, took me another 6 years to buy the Dream.Always wanted one but not at these prices.

On a good day, they might hit 45 mph, downhill, with a strong tailwind, and a 75-pound 16-year old riding it!!

Most of them you see anymore have an OMC overhead valve engine installed , one with an original side valve Clinton engine is worth more I am guessing . Wiki says the big one would do 50 MPH , a claim that seems dubious at best , a Honda S 90 would tun off and hide from one , and despite claims of 64 MPH for one of those , on a good day they might make a real 51 MPH .

My dad had an 8 hp Cushman when I was 10 or 11. He claimed it run 50. It felt like it when he gave me a ride.

I had one of them when I was 17 .    The foot clutch was for shifting gears mostly , I could put it in gear then with the motor idling let the clutch up without moving till the clutch weights slung out.

The one I had might have had a larger front sprocket but , it would do more than 50 , that 35mph must be referring to 1st gear ?
Back in the early 1970's those Cushman's were cheep and in good supply , mine was retired to the scrap-iron pile when I got a Honda CD175 .

All Eagles, which were rare in my neck of the woods when growing up. Of course Sears did not sell the Eagles as I recall.

My first motorcycle/scooter was a Cushman Trailster. It had a two speed transmission with a centrifugal clutch.

Same bike I started on. Break chain pulling a weelie in 2nd every time. Maybe that's why I strip driveshafts, rear pinions and break teeth.

My first wreck on two wheels (other than bicycles) was on a Cushman step through scooter.  Picked pea gravel out of the palm of my hands for an hour.

If a trampy kick scooter and a meth head mulleted lawn mower had a baby...gosh these things are fugly. Why am I thinking about a Shriner's parade?

Good to hear from you also Joe.  Yep, we do need a good visit. It’s been awhile. Miss seeing those at rallies we both knew from years ago. I’ll give you a shout shortly.
