Hi all,
I am on the fence about replacing my rear carrier gasket and lock washers it is not giving me a problem. If I do replace it can I keep the rear main seal ( just replaced it ) before I thought of the carrier.

Change seal unless you swapped it out recently. Need a puller for rear main pull, steering wheel puller works.

Yes, the existing seal can remain in the carrier. No need to replace it again.
But if it's not leaking around the gasket I wouldn't pull the carrier...

Thank you for the replies I really don't want to open this can of worms I get in enough trouble with out making an appointment for it.

If you are going to the effort of removing the carrier change BOTH the gasket and the seal, due to their very convenient and easy access......
Sarcasm off, as access requires near total disassembly of the bike and is a hugh PITA, do it once do it right.
While youre in there have a look at the breather gasket and the cam welsh plug as leak points.
If the rear main isnt leaking I agree with the rest of the above posts.
What are you doing thats got you in that deep?

Some year ago, I replaced the rear main seal on my eldorado, as it seemed to be where the leak was. I had to take it all apart again to replace the paper gasket between the carrier and block. Thats where the leak actually was originating from. AARRGGHH!
My suggestion is do it once and do it right. If the cam plug has not been "JB Welded" over , I would do that too.

Remember the two bolts about 7 o’clock get sealant. Degrease the cam plug and jb weld it, it’s a common leak. How old is the bike? The seal should be fine

If you have replaced the seal recently and you've run without any leaks previous to taking the tranny and clutch out now, than I would say leave well enough alone. If on the other hand you are in there to address an engine oil seepage from the bell housing, then do the gasket and seal the threads on the two bolts John A referred to and JB Weld the cam plug. Ask me how I know that this is the best approach!
Pyro has recently gone through this and can confirm.
If it wasn't leaking at all prior to your being in there and you replaced the seal to be on the safe side while you were there, I would let it go at that.

Replacing the carrier gasket was just going to be preventive. I'm in here replacing my clutch on my T I will do the cam plug and breather. Thanks for the input.
