New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
If I am in town I will be there.
I have a soft spot for Jim Oliver's Smokehouse. Several decades ago, when my parents were still living, a couple of times each year I'd ride my Harley back to Kansas for a visit. I'd leave my house in Cumming, Ga. at O:dark thirty. Back then, Cumming was still a one-stoplight town, and I vividly remember heading out before dawn, often the only vehicle on the road. I'd take GA20 across to I-75 and ride up to Monteagle. By the time I'd exit, the sun would be coming up and I'd be ready for breakfast. The Smokehouse was my go-to breakfast stop on all those rides. It was a less crowded time, fewer cars, fewer deer! Monteagle hasn't changed too much, nor has the Smokehouse. When any of my riding buddies come up from Atlanta, we always meet at the Smokehouse for breakfast.
CHANGE: The restaurant is on fire as i post this and is a total loss. So I will pick a different meet and greet location ....More to follow.https://www.heraldchronicle.com/news/local/jim-olivers-smokehouse-engulfed-in-flames/article_56bcac9a-a7a2-11eb-b284-5375a8fef208.html?fbclid=IwAR2SUq8sBXML4jB8e8K6sEJzfEqxX4hwOxUrybyZ3pXTJMZJTJ7mktV5w_s
Breaks my heart to hear that Jim Oliver's restaurant has burnt down. It has always been a favorite day ride for myself from Pulaski and onward to the Curly Putman Highway for some twists and turns.I plan to ride to Tracy City on the 22nd of May as for one to look forward to meeting some of the folks here and it's always my birthday ride.Be well..be kind and be safe!
Dang Bob , if it isn't coming a flood on the days you guys try to get together , the restaurant burns down We all admire your perseverance Dusty
Are you saying May 22nd is your Birthday, or whenever your Birthday is you ride to Tracy City?
Did you have to go through any bad weather on your ride out, Bob? Raining cats & dogs here in East Tennessee yesterday and today. Supposed to be nice tomorrow.
Hey Bob, right now it looks like I will be in town that weekend. Now I have to order a new rear tire for the V7 so it arrives about the time I get home so I can get it mounted in time. 3000 miles on rear tires is the worst I have ever seen on a motorcycle.
I think I will be able to make it, maybe drag a Triumph riding friend with me.
I drove by Jim Oliver's Smokehouse today heading to my Mom's house. I think you could call it a total loss.Wow...what a shame!
