Me too.  Not a big fan of heights but I never could understand the 'pucker' factor.  Somebody around here knows the answer I am sure.

I preferred actually riding it.

The Stelvio is quite impressive, but not as dramatic as it looks from the satellite view.

I think I'd cook my brakes coming down.  Maybe with my DR and motard tires it would be some fun.

The Stelvio pass is a spectacular ride.

However the switchback ascents and descents are not a thrilling from a road-running aspect as the roadways north and south of these more famous and photographed sections.

On those switchbacks, you blast along on a more-or-less straight section until you come up on the 180 turn.  You slow down, turn 180 and then haul butt up to or down to the next 180. However, once crossing the peak of the pass, you encounter a much more continually curvy ride that snakes precariously around the edge of the mountains. There are not so many switchbacks but you are constantly maneuvering left and right to follow the erratic path of the narrow roadway. Oh, and there are few things like safety rails or guards to obstruct your view of the distant valley below you.

That's us heading south after the peak of the Stelvio-
