Brookside Motorcycles, Tulsa...GONE
« on: December 21, 2018, 04:24:19 PM »
All this talk of Triumph vs. Guzzi got me out of the house, on a rare trip to town. I wanted to visit Brookside Motorcycle Company, the local dealer for both brands.   Well, the place is empty.  No bikes out front, none in the showroom. The website is still up, but the phone is disconnected.  Dusty is making some behind the scene inquiries to see what happened. Maybe some of you are closer to the owners, and can elaborate. Anyway, I wish them well. They have always treated me very well. It's a tough time to be in the M/C business.

This has been an ongoing deal since the early Fall.  I heard that  the new bikes had disappeared a couple of months ago and now you report that the used ones are gone now too.  I also heard that one of the principals had been ill for a time.  I know a couple of the warranty jobs were sent down here to the new dealer in OKC.

That's a shame, good people. I met the wrench that rode from OK to the shop I worked at in Fairburn, GA. We sponsored the Aprilia RSV4 Tech School when that bike first came out. I was impressed he rode his Guzzi from OK to go to the 2-3 day school.

This sucks, but I would find it really hard to believe. They're not listed on Motoguzzi.com anymore either, so it looks like he's done.

I'll try and get a hold of Paul to see what's up.

It's confirmed by Paul. I'll give a partial summary from his message.

Quote
Sadly, I have come to the decision to close Brookside Motorcycle Company after almost 14 years since I opened the doors. It has hopefully been a catalyst,,, and I know my privilege, to help many long time and new riders, friends, ole' fellow racers, mentors of mine, and others,,,,,customers, family, and the followers of my second gospel,,,,,, which is, riding, fellowship, and as those who wear BMC shirts, with the BMC logo and its colors know, "Putting People Behind Bars"!.

I cannot begin to express my thankfulness to the over 5,000 plus customers, who I have felt to be as family, the people who have been a part of the BMC team, those who have helped with our many events, and the uncountable others who have contributed in many ways.

Brookside Motorcycle Company has truly been a rare chance to have a job which was truly a passion, and an honor.

I happened to show up the day after the new bikes were loaded up and carted away...the story was one of marital discord and a key financial source withdrawing support...was pretty shocking to see the empty floor and the shop staff had to ride down to the bank to make change from my purchase...

Don't know where I'll go to get a CARC rear wheel/tire mounted and balanced now...

Hope the guys that worked there found a new situation...

why is the CARC wheel any different than any other motorcycle wheel?

why is the CARC wheel any different than any other motorcycle wheel?

Because it bolts to the hub with four lugs like an automobile, rather than riding on a through axle.  And, the brake rotor stays with the wheel, rather than remaining on the rear drive. (On Ducati and other SS swingarm applications, the brake rotor is attached to the drive instead of the wheel.  Guzzi CARC is kind of an oddball setup).

Shops that don't do a lot of Single-sided rear wheel/tire replacements may not have the adapters for their balance machines.
