Mark at Moto Guzzi Classics has done several of these conversions. I was considering doing one and asked what front fender he used. His reply was that he cut down the original fender.

Thats interesting, Charlie. I wonder if he was able to roll the edges after cutting, or how he finished the sides. Whatever he did, it sure looks clean. I like the on he had chrome plated.

Great minds think alike, Foto! I started running a piece of wire from a wire feed mig, passing it along the sides of the rectangular opening in the headlight bucket, but it was a bit too thick to fit between the terminal and opening, so I backed off, thinking it may contact one of the terminals. I was going to twist it inside the headlight bucket, cutting off the ends as needed.  A wire tie , like you recommend would surely be easier to work with since its not as stiff, or as thick, as the welding wire. Your idea is a better one.
I need to go back in there and secure not just the 3 wire terminal that unplugged, but the bigger  multi wire one next to it also. I have a "Jeep" led headlight unit coming in, that I plan to install in the convert. It should arrive in a day or two, so I will be doing that adaptation into the stock headlight, and securing both wiring connectors.
Right now the Convert is running so good, and the riding weather is so nice here in the high desert, that I have riding it every day, every chance I get, putting on as many miles as possible.

Thanks for the input.  I have found a couple of original T/T3 fenders for sale but I really like the SP fender.  Nice job, by the way, JRT.  What mufflers are those, and how loud are they ?

Funny.

I think that I might have one of those headlights kicking around in my garage but from memory they could also be sourced from some Fiat but I might be wrong on that source.

I read somewhere that the headlight is the same as that fitted to a Fiat 126?
Probably not a car that sold much in the USA (650cc, 2cyl) but was quite widespread in Italy/Europe, so parts should be available.

The one that came on mine was a POS too. The headlight was like a Bic lighter on it's last leg.

Funny.

I think that I might have one of those headlights kicking around in my garage but from memory they could also be sourced from some Fiat but I might be wrong on that source. Trying to source the headlight mounts is probably difficult but I'd try to find someone who has the parts from an SP. Probably the hardest part to find in descent shape is the rubber cover for the clocks that says LeMans.

"I bought mine last year and have not had time to enjoy it like I want to, but was very happy to get it for $2900."

I paid $2,500 for mine and it was running but running poorly.  I remember having a hell of a time trying to get it timed with the stamped timing marks until I had a conversation with Dave Richardson who informed me that those marks are probably just a suggestion and I should time by ear and performance. Solved that problem and I proceeded to invest thousands of dollars in that bike.

I have had a few of these cute little things 😍
Still have 3, one in each color.  White, blue and orange
Parted out a few a couple years back. Have a few parts yet.

Man, those are gorgeous,  I won t be able fo hang with you...

Any chance that you have spare pedal assembly...?  Some PO broke one and welded it.  I can swap out from the crank though.
Thanks,
Rob

I also have a Lemans CX100 and think the asking price of the bike posted is probably reasonable if it’s mechanically sound, even if it needs tuning.   I bought mine last year and have not had time to enjoy it like I want to, but was very happy to get it for $2900.  It’s not all original but I don’t care.  I’m still sorting it.   It seems to be a very sound bike that looks great and will not produce anxiety when unattended like more valuable/collectible models do.

Many of these old machines have reached a point where it’s about opportunity to have one vs arguing over a relatively small amount of sales price.  You either get it when the opportunity arises or you don’t because someone else will grab it while you’re thinking.   If you buy a more plain T, T3 or V1000 instead and try to do a nice clone to look like this bike, $5500 will probably not be an adequate budget.  If it’s the kind of bike you want, buy it and enjoy it with relative impunity.

The sticking clutch hub seems to make sense the way it is reacting, thanks for all the feedback, looks like a winter project and sadly that time is getting close up here.

I was thinking that sidecar may be a Velorex. :thumb: Nice rig, post some photos as you go through it.
Rick.

Yeah, you're right. I should know better, had a Velorex 562 on a '69 Bonneville.
