V7 R Windscreen/Fairing Change
« on: November 10, 2015, 11:34:19 AM »
I have had my V7 for about 6-months.  Never put on the rear #7's on and usually have the 2-up seat on for the Mrs.  Do not care for the front either and was going to get a "blank" decal to cover it.  I then found this on eBay (new) and paid ~60% off MSRP.  MAS Engineering makes for MG.  AF1 used to have these for sale a while back.  Also added a decal I had lying around.....now I need to find a few hours to put it on.

I think it will look much better?  I hope..............  Don't love the decal I had and may get a red one from MG Cycle or somewhere but will do for the moment.

I've never cared for the "7" on these.   The previous owner of my V7R (Adan on this forum) painted over it with black spray paint.  I was thinking a Moto Guzzi eagle logo, or maybe Italian flag colors would dress it up.

I went this route instead:

Yeah. He told me it was just under $200K. Hmm. But my new $90 fairing will be cool too? :undecided:

Took under 20 minutes.........2 bolts for the old, 2 on the headlight and then bolt back together.

I went halfway between stock and the Record kit.  Just what I was looking for with a delightful side of effect of perfectly smooth air.

Looks great too!
It is kind of reminiscent of the BMW R90S, only better looking  :thumb:

Just a standard vintage fairing.  Obviously you have to fab all the mounting brackets, but that is great garage fun in my book.

Or get the Emgo/Viper cheaper $69 version .....

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Emgo-Viper-Cafe-Racer-Front-Fairing-Vintage-Honda-Motorcycle-70-52501-/181927688389?hash=item2a5bbc38c5:g:1D4AAOxy039TKLbJ&vxp=mtr

The Emgo brackets are real cheap but you can fabricate your own. They should be extened another 1/2" anyways for the fairing to fit a little better with the headlight and clear the right handlebar controls and allow the fairing to appear level and straight .... depending on the handlebars you are using.
