A new Stornello look

All scramblers do need a high fender.  Same goes for the Stornello.

With all that mud you plan on slinging’, you might want to invest in more mud-capable tires.

Glad someone did this. Had seen what aftermarket mudguards looked like up there on some V7s, but was curious how one of those lovely satin factory fenders looked chopped and moved up.

Scramblers don’t need enduro fenders, if they did they would be enduros.

This is probably the only scrambler someone built using a V7 that has actually been truly ridden like scrambler:

https://www.guareschimoto.it/en/portfolio/v7-scrambler/

And the cool video proving they know how to rock a scrambler properly:

https://youtu.be/P9OMMQvQRQM

BAAK has high fenders for sale, but I question if anyone working there has ever touched a rut off-road.

Pfffft.  I do that all the time.

Seriously I do even ride off road, not merely off pavement ...

... but mostly, I like local dual-tracks like this ... and ridden pretty slowly.  I tell people that I like to smell the roses, but the real truth is that riding fast off-pavement scares me feceless!

OTOH, just now, even if the forecast today were not this ...

... the only way I can ride that sweet little beast is on the lift.  Still flummoxed by its, à la Bartleby the Scrivener, "I would prefer not to (start)."

They only just recently (6 months or so ago) became available directly from MAS Engineering, the folks who designed/built them. Before that, you were paying at least $750+ for the pair.

It looks good, but actually many adventure bikes and scramblers these days have low fenders.  Some have low and high fenders together.

Some of the examples from just a quick search:
The Tenere 700
The Himalayan 411
The Aprilia Tuareg 660
The Triumph Street Scrambler
The Triumph Scrambler 1200
The Ducati Scrambler
Several of the BMW GS bikes.

2018 V7 III Carbon Dark #0009 of 1921
2018 Road Glide Special
2021 Kawasaki KLX300SM
2017 Suzuki Van Van 200
2009 Harley Davidson Softail Custom

Hmmmm.

That is interesting. BD9 and some others often say that my V7 III (in Miami Dolphin livery) would look better -- or, at least, more legit retro -- with with a chrome front fender.

I don't care for chrome, but see their point, so tempted to try that albeit with aluminum rather than chrome.

I'll see if my (V7 II) Stornello's front fits on a III's forks first, tho the MAS website seems to say it does. I'd just rattle-can the rear or not at all.

Thanks.

You write as if there was never a design choice made simply for aesthetic’s sake, or that there’s never been an ugly motorcycle.

Granted, I’m partial to a special limited edition model variant being appreciated as is, but I’m even more of a cheerleader to folks spending effort on personalization. So long as the OP doesn’t care that they just knocked down the resale value of their V7 Stornello, I say go to town! Just gonna add to the other Stornello owners’ pockets when they choose to sell their unmodified bikes.

If you modify your bike, and that includes storing all the special bits away till you sell it.I believe you wiill end up top dollar over all those dicked up machines that has never been touched. Just have to be able to return it to mostly stock options..

NOT that fender!  :copcar:

I think the Specials with Bright exhaust, rims and gloss paint would look better with matching bright or polished stainless front AND rear fenders. Would IMO look much better than the plastic painted front and Hideous black rear abomination (but who am I ? LOL)

Jeez you Yanks are an odd bunch..
Can you not see the (intended) irony in that post coming from me, after a 9 page thread on a modified V85, a litany of changes to my Norge which if documented in print, would make the Dead Sea Scrolls look like the Cat in the Hat...!

Do you really need to have your humour zip tied to a sledge hammer and be hit over the head with it ?

… and yes, I’ve seen all the V7 scramblers ever made. Otherwise I would not have made such a statement..

True, and in this case only the mudguard has been chopped, whereas my Stone has had minor mods like that done 10X over.

True, and in this case only the mudguard has been chopped, whereas my Stone small stuff like that done 10X over.

The mudguard from the OP is not a cut down stock, it is a 'bolt on' from Baak. IMO, it's a styling exercise and not functonal other than maybe to keep mud from coming up into the steering head.  I sourced a used front fender mount, drilled through it and mounted the stock fender on top of the mount.  The 705's fit under the fender, but was too close for muddy conditions.

I don't begrudge any mods an owner makes to their bikes, but I always try to make mods that are reversible.

Completely forgot BAAK offered those short mudguards, and I missed the note where they mentioned that.
