I spent a great weekend at the 21st annual Handhills vintage motorcycle rally, located in the badlands of Drumheller Alberta, north / east of Calgary. The rally is focused on 1975 and older 350cc or smaller, 1959 or older 500cc or less, or any prewar bike.
I brought my 1972 Benelli 175 Enduro, I had a bad battery but after fitting a new lithium 6V it ran great all weekend, but it sure goes through a tank of 30:1 premix in a hurry, it was run mostly wide open on a couple 50km loops but it could hold 60mph except for the long steep hills in and out of the valley of the Red Deer river.
crossing the Red Deer river on the historic Bleriot ferry with friends on a Vincent Comet, BMW R75 and Guzzi LeMans
Nice Benelli Barracuda painted with Motobi markings
Sears Gilera 124 5 speed, competes on the Nakusp B.C. annual 10km long hill climb
I followed this 75 Moto Morini Sport (dented gas tank from a Strada), sounded great
A hopped up Puch Twingle (another regular Rocky Mountain Giro hill climb bike)
Nice BSA
A reluctant starting DKW
A beautiful pair of Velo LE's (owner designed and built electronic ignition)
plenty of very nice Japanese bikes, a brace of early Suzuki two strokes, Honda twins from the 60's and several Kawasaki dirt bikes
The 650 CX Turbo makes a great sound, very clean survivor
My Buddy Harold's super clean Le Mans
64 Super Hawk, all original, runs like a top
After a cold and wet Friday it was blue sky and warm weather
