Griso Upgrades
« on: August 12, 2022, 10:06:33 AM »
Added a new HyperPro rear spring, got sag and rebound set properly at the shop.  Huge difference in riding and turning vs before…had never done a proper sag/rebound and the stock spring was definitely far too soft for me.

New PR4GT’s installed, gently scrubbing them in today on a ride after wearing out the original Metzelers.  Running these on all 3 Guzzi’s…my favorite tire so far!

Added narrower Aprilia Mana bars with red Progrips…enough of a difference to be more upright and pulled back and narrower than stock.

Conclusion…very positive!!

Amazing what properly set up suspension does for a motorcycle.
So many seem to think one needs to be Ricky Racer to benefit from a proper set-up job.

You don't.  Good on ya, mate.

Tail tidy (home made), Corbin saddle, bar risers, metal oil cooler cover, small Buell fly screen and fender extender. Looking at the picture makes me regret selling it

Thanks Jim!  Ended up with a nice 200 miler today…wow, an incredibly better experience on the Griso.  Smooth as silk, beautiful turning, 42 mpg and just all around much more comfortable!  Loving it!

Beautiful Greenie Griso…that was a keeper!

Last stoplight before home and a guy in an F-150 next to me honks, thumbs up and then asks…is that Italian?  Oh yes!  Beautiful bike he says!  Nice!

the only thing that makes you faster and more confident than a properly set up suspension is rider training.

Hey Paul
I’m looking for narrower bars for my Griso. Can you give me a measurement in inches the width of the bars.

Thanks

Absolutely...also here's the link to the bars I had bought:

https://www.tradeinn.com/motardinn/en/trw-superbike-aprilia-na-850-mana-09-tracker-handlebar/138875876/p

These are 22 mm (7/8 inch) diameter, 750mm (29.5 inches) width.  About an inch or 1.5 inches narrower I think than the stock...enough to bring them in more in line with my shoulders rather than so wide.

One note on fitting these, I did have to buy 7/8 to 1 inch shims (2 hemispherical shims) so that these bars would fit snugly in my Onur risers, since the stock Griso bars are "fat" in the middle and then taper, while these bars are same diameter from end to end (22mm or 7/8" inch).

Hope this helps!

You can order Mana bars from AF1 that have the correct taper.

That is true, but unfortunately only in Grey, not in Red and for more than double the price, and not available until October.  But aside from those issues, certainly would make the swap more plug and play.

I see an unfinished "upgrade".
Partial scratch off of the gas tank sticker.
Attempts were made...
LOL.

It is beautiful though. I have the same color 2015. I like what you've done.
