Title: 2021 V7 850

Too early to say much yet, except that I just had to have it.  And that the rear suspension is like night and day compared to the new V7 III I test rode.  I'll keep you posted.

Looks really nice in that blue paint scheme.

Glad that Guzzi is starting to get away from the drab, flat paint schemes.

That's fantastic!   The first thing I noticed on my test ride at the National was how nice the suspension was, and then the extra power!  Along with a much more comfy seat I think its a winner!
Title: Re: 2021 V7 850

beautiful.

you can still get the "drab, flat" finishes on the "stone" models.

agreed, when i test rode one, the differences were both subtle in some areas (better tracking, feel of throttle) and much more obvious in others (suspension and power and seat).

i don't think you will be seeing 2 year old brand new bikes anchoring the showroom floors of this model.  i think it is more of a smash in its niche and in comparison to the competition in its range than the V85 was when it came out and that is saying something.

bravo MG

From the latest issue of MGNOC NEWS:

The V7’s New Lease on Life
by
Steven Rossi

The 49th Annual MGNOC Rally…held in Keene, New Hampshire to celebrate Moto Guzzi’s 100th Anniversary…has come and gone, and a good time was had by all. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for Guzzi guys and gals to congregate because after all, there’s only one one-hundredth! Sorry if you missed it, and I’ll leave it to others to report on the actual details of the event. But there was one enlightening experience I’d like to share.
Thanks to Bethel, Connecticut Moto Guzzi dealer Jim Hamlin, there were Demo Rides to be had. Hamlin Cycles orchestrated the on-site activity by generously hauling up some new V7s out of their own inventory…including the latest, 2021 850 Special and Centenario editions. Obviously, I just had to jump aboard…and here’s what I learned, after a short blast through the Keene countryside.
Plain and simple, the 850 has bestowed a new lease on life for the V7. The engine seems as if it’s what was originally destined for what’s become…after so many iterations…Moto Guzzi’s best selling model. It’s powerful, smooth, responsive and well calibrated. Not only is it torquey and refined, but throaty and more comfortable at the same time.
Ridden back-to-back at the Rally, a previous V7 III is/was comparatively…and clearly…at the end of its useful life. With less grunt, a little more vibration and slower response, the III proved a bit harder to ride. You have to work the bike a bit more to get it to obey, where the 850 is more poised and cooperative.
The new 850 seems to shift better than its predecessor, though I assume that’s simply a result of being a better match to the new engine. The 2021 saddle is more welcoming than the V7 III seat and the beefed-up suspension is more compliant. Jim Hamlin pointed out the fine point of the 850’s upgraded rear shock arrangement…which is laid down a little more. Allowing the rear end to be a bit more progressive in response to bumps and road irregularities.
The only thing I found that the III did better than the 850 was turn-in. The old bike did so ever-so-slightly quicker because of its shorter wheelbase. The 2021 models rely on a longer V9 swingarm and its stronger rear housing, and it return, provide a more solid and planted feel over-the-road.
I’m not a fan of the new digital, Centenario instrument cluster, which is offset to the left in typical (single gauge) Stone style. It just doesn’t look right from behind the bars. The dual instruments (speedo and tach) may be enough to sway you toward the 850 Special. In fact, it proved so desirable that Hamlin Cycles sold its beautiful, Blue demo on the spot to a Rally-goer who returned from a test ride!
So we welcome the arrival of the latest 850. With its new lease on life, the V7 is now a Guzzi that very much gets it done with no apologies necessary. Fit and finish was also top notch, and it’s priced right. Furthermore, it presents some rather intriguing potential for Moto Guzzi’s second hundred years.
Some folks have been longing for a reincarnation of the legendary LeMans. I believe the new, light and nimble V7 850 would make a perfect platform instead for a born again…V50 Monza! There’s supposedly a new, big-block engine in the works (to be revealed in September?) which could/should be saved for a performance flagship.
We’ll see. Life goes on. In the meantime, let’s enjoy the new V7 850…

Yes...the refocus on gloss finish after so many matte color treatments now makes the rear fender more noticeable. By the way...beyond the new Blue, the Silver Special is pretty sweet, too.

Exactly how I felt going from a 2010 V7 to the 2018 V7III.  I can't imagine this bike being the same level of leap forward.  Now I have to test ride one.

My 2010 felt like riding g an early 70s motorcycle.  The 2018 felt like a modern machine on par with the FZ07 it replaced.

The V85TT still bubbles to the top for a mid weight touring bike.

Slap a fender elimination kit on there and then you don't have to be concerned about the black fender.
Here are for the V7III, but certainly there will be some for the new V7s eventually.

I was also puzzled by the “ need” to have a very short front fender. Good to know that  a Fenda extenda is available to correct this.

I had an opportunity to demo an exact double of your bike last week. I definitely could feel the increase in power, relative to the 750 version of the V7.

I assisted at Hamlin's when the first batch of the new 850 V7's arrived.  When we uncrated the blue bike, in the sun, everyone in the shop was dumbfounded at how beautiful it looked.  It's a 10 out of 10.

Decal under clearcoat on the tank; the side plate is just the decal.

I'm trying to pay fairly close attention to the break in shift light, so I'm not sure how much I can tell you at this point.  I'd been riding Doug's Roamer since he bought the V85TT and was absolutely swept away by the V9 engine.  But the Roamer felt much more spread out as far as the riding position, and I couldn't get near as comfortable riding and handling it as I was on my V7 II.  Doug said it stood to reason I ought to go try the new 850 so away we went to the nearest dealer, Sloan's.  Rolling away on the test ride I nearly felt disappointed, the 850 lacks a good bit of that mechanical, rumbling, thumping feel that I enjoy so much on the V9.  It's there, it's just not a prominent feature the way it is on the Roamer.  The V7 850 fits like a glove though, and handles without a thought, completely natural.  I went home and studied for two days just to make sure.  I've got 200 miles on it now, like it more with each ride.

Sarah

p.s. I'll get that measurement for you, John Henry.  Any other questions, just ask.

So, out of curiosity, any chance we might get you to measure the rear swing arm from the center point of the pivot to the center point of the axle bolt?

I have heard the swing arm is longer than the previous V7 models, but I have not substantiated that. No hurry BTW.

John Henry

18 1/16 inches.

That is how, regrettably, I feel about my III, which -- has so unlike the Stornello's V7 -- a kiss-your-sister sort of blandness.  It's a pleasant machine, but not, IMO, a thrilling one.  I'm glad the new V7-850 delivers more of the visceral joy of my other Guzzis.

Some Japanese models have gone almost unchanged for 20 years.

It was as designed and used first on the V9, then used on the V85, and now has made its way to the new v7.   In conclusion, all modern 850s have the longer stronger swing arm.

Great looking bike Sarah!  Nicest looking "new bike" I have seen in a very long time.  A bike that just might get me back into the Guzzi Owner's pack,  Fenda Extenda's are awesome.  The person who came up with that idea deserves to become very wealthy.  I have also made mudflaps from rubber sheet purchased from McMaster-Carr.  Doesn't look as good!

I didn't notice the rear fender until I read the comments.  Hard to tell from the picture, but it looks like very little of the rear fender is visible.  Painting it might not be much of a visual gain, but a fun way to make the bike more unique as a minimum.

Looking forward to more impressions.

Thanks for sharing.  Congrats and enjoy!!

I just visited the website.  https://www.motoguzzi.com/us_EN/models/v7/v7-special-850-v-twin-4s-2021/

$249 for a clutch lever!!!  The Harley worshippers are gonna get jealous.

Not painting the rear fender on the silver model was a huge mistake compared to not painting the fender on the blue model.

Moto Guzzi should fire their photographer and hire Sarah as their photographer.

Oddly enough, the gallery of photos all feature the blue model and none of the silver.

It will be interesting to see if the modernization of the Guzzi's leads the aftermarket to produce some "Mechanical Charm" (tm) restorers.

It would be easy to produce a little bolt on device that produces some mechanical white noise and a bit of vibration.

With regard to the H-B brackets that allow the use of the Junior bags, they list a part number of 653556 00 01. That is a different number than the V7III part number. They also list the other pieces such as a rear rack, engine guards, center stand. I did not compare any of those numbers against older V7 models. No doubt as Moto Machines updates their site, MK4 accessories will show up soon.

I figure there might be people wanting to be able to set up a new V7 MK4 as a dedicated tourer and a set of 40L Juniors, (or 30's), would go a long way toward that goal, not to mention setting a trunk on the back. Knowing the stuff is out there might help someone on the fence about getting a new V7 because of this.

John Henry
Yes, I've been watching both the H&B web site and also Moto Machine's.  H&B just started offering the racks for the V7 E5 about a week ago.  H&B won't sell directly to anyone in a country that has a distributor, so that rules out a direct sale to me.  I've been in contact with Moto Machines, who told be that they will be offering the racks "soon".  They told me the same thing in early May when I first brought my V7 E5 home.  Very frustrating.

From the owner's manual under Transmission, Gear Ratios: 6th gear 28/24 = 1: 0.857.  Final drive ratio 8/33 = 1: 4.125

As specified, from the owners manual, so, a 50/50 shot at being correct.

I suppose I might have expected a change to top end gearing to drop a few revs since there is a power increase with the new motor.

John Henry

Really?  I can't even put my V7III into 6th gear until I am doing 70 mph and above.  These aren't really interstate bikes and I am only on the interstate for an exit or two to avoid other roads.

I love the blue.
I sometimes miss polishing a motorcycle, but the matte finish on my Aluminum, has grown on me and rarely looks dirty.
I chose the anniversary V7, as I wanted cast wheels and an Anniversary Model.
It's my Cappuccino Crawler, and I love it.

I can drop my v9 in 6th at 65 on flat IL road without complaint, but it feels more “right “ at the and up.
My favorite gear to play in is 4th, it’s amazingly dynamic!

I agree generally speaking, with a few exceptions. First, as with many of my past Guzzi's, the speedo is optimistic. 80 indicated is really closer to 70. (a little above actually) Second, as for interstate riding, leaving the Ohio Rally I was tired and it was raining. Under those circumstances, my interest in getting home quickly out weighed taking twisty roads, with the latter adding about two hours to the trip in good weather.

In reality, it had no trouble doing what I asked of it. It took years to get from 45 or so to 52 and they made changes to the ratios. You might think a 13 hp increase might do the same. They changed the ratios from the II to the III. (1st and 6th)

John Henry

I put a slightly larger rear tire thus changing my overall ratio and making my speedo more accurate.  Within 3 mph compared with my GPS.

The only other Goose I’ve ever owned was a 2002 Lemans I bought new and returned under lemon law it had so many issues. It was a 2.5 year battle I never want to go through again.

But when it ran it was like nothing else I’ve owned. I’ve never forgotten it. So yes, a virus!

They are like that for sure.  My MG story started with an addicted friend who wanted me to drive all night with him in the winter and sleep in the truck in a rest stop to pick up this killer deal left over 2002 Stone from a dealer in NY in 2004.  Being much younger and stupider, I agreed.  Got it home and I had one ride on it before the clutch stopped working at 1,500 miles.  I never forget the feel of that bike, the Guzzi feel that we all know but can't adequately describe.  He got rid of that one soon after and has never had another in spite of how good the newer ones have become, and my prodding.  At any rate, over the next years, I continued to ride Beemers.  A local fellow whom I actually bought a 2004 BMW RT from when he was a salesman at the then local BMW store (since closed) decided to take the plunge in 2015 and opened a Guzzi store to go with his busy used bike and repair business.  That is Cadre, and Enzo is the man.  His enthusiasm was infectious so I did some test rides over the next few years, but my K1200RS was serving me at the time.  I really liked the 1400 Eldorado, but could not see a realistic path to owning that bike.  Then, the RS spit out its rear diff., and I did not want to dump more money into it and at that exact time, Enzo had the Blue Guzz in stock, a pristine under 500 mile 2015 Cali Custom that was about 6 months old and I joined this tribe.  Those devils at Guzzi had to send that Demo Truck around with the V85TT's and here I am.

We bought a used Givi 140S windscreen for the Roamer last year (thanks again MMRanch!) and had it on the shelf.  The bracket needed a spacer either side of the headlight for a snug fit, and pads on top of the headlight ears to adjust the angle and clear the gauges.  Had it on the bike in just a few minutes:

(https://i.ibb.co/MNQtp9j/IMG-0165.jpg) (https://ibb.co/MNQtp9j)

Last week we took a notion to ride down to St Augustine and visit some kinfolks, so I crammed the trusty old tail bag plumb full and away we went.  The screen provides excellent coverage with no buffeting, I like it better than the Dart Marlin I've used in the past.  This luggage and windscreen combo suits me very well, the bike was stable as could be at the upper range of interstate speeds and passing scenarios, semis, RV's, flying SUV's, tanker trucks, you name it.  4500 rpm puts you at 80 mph on the speedo and 77 on the gps, 49.82 mpg per the calculator on my phone.   :bike-037:

You can't tell from the picture, but there's a load of groceries underneath and the box of crackers didn't fare the best.  Do you all have a favorite large tail bag or duffle you'd recommend?  This old Tourmaster bag is nice in that it has the mounting bungees built in and tucked away underneath.  I added a set of plastic buckles at each point as back up attachments and the bag is secure as it can be.  I unhook/unclip from the grab rail and carry the whole thing into the motel room with nothing left on the bike.  I'd like to find a bigger bag with the same handy set up if I could.  Thanks again!

Good morning, Sarah.

Lordy, you always seem to get up early ... and you're in the CST!

Anyway, on the merits, maybe you should see this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2zXnb-h5PE (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2zXnb-h5PE)

Seriously, Kathi and I find packing a challenge.  Heck, even when going on short trips in a cage that we repeat frequently -- e.g., our monthly runs to Erie to see her dad -- we stand in our closet and agonize (OK, too strong a word, but it seems like it sometime ) over what to take.  In the end, with our C-130 Honda Fit and a clothes bar, we basically ... erm ... take our closet and make the "what to wear today" decision in the hotel!

And, while I tease about Kathi taking three hair dryers and other "essentials" she wants to take on on motorcycle trips, I obsess over tools and other Guzzi-support items.  I rarely need anything, and with some cable ties, a CC, and a cellphone, would probably be just fine, especially for the modest trips we take.

You and Doug seem to think nothing of transcontinental treks, so it's harder, thus your continuing quest for the Holy Grail of The Perfect Bag.  To use Kentucky dialect ... "it ain't out there."

Seriously -- tho, that was -- based on my less needy looks for the same , your own solutions are probably about as good as they get.  If you and Doug ever get this way, you are welcome to take your pick in the Moto Grappa's 24/7/365 "garage sale" of motorcycle luggage solutions.  You'll also be helping clear out my shop of things I knew would answer the mail but failed for one reason or another!

Best,

Bil

I have learned over the years that if I am buying new, I am going to get waterproof soft luggage.  Deploying and stowing the waterproof covers is a pain and they don't work perfectly, or take up room if they are thick enough not to be blown around.

Of course you could pack everything inside waterproof bags and just not worry about it.

I am not replacing what I currently own, so I do make sure everything is in waterproof bags.

Raised on a dairy farm and just can't get above it

Thank you for that kind offer Bill, when we make it up your way you can be sure I'll ask to browse the garage sale.  Heck, I could have one myself if I'd grit my teeth and do it.

And thank you TWA, but after the early days (40 years ago) of ignorance and poor planning, I'm compelled to double wrap my belongings in plastic bags regardless.  I even do that when packing for a cage trip, I can't keep myself from it.

I bought mine on Amazon for $20.00,so hard to not like it.  It was originally going on my Breva 1100, and I offered it to the buyer of that bike. He did not want it, so I stored it away.. Turns out it works with the V-7ii really well.. I can run a extra C-bow Royster on the back seat, but the Saddleman is my favorite for general daily use.. The rear rack is lower then the back of the seat, and keeps the tool box as low as possible. I made it out of some SS and even used my cheapest 120 volt stick welder to glue it altogether.I could of tigged welded it, but the little stainless stick rod works very well too. I can use the rack for my Rotopax but not sure why I would ever need to carry anymore gas on this unit.

The side C-bow Royster, and Saddlleman/bag/rear tool box, and quick lock tank bag is my sport touring setup.. The V-7 is perfect for my needs.. Here is what I used before.. The Touno was pretty much happiest at about the same speed as the V-7ii cruises at 70-72 MPH. The bigger Guzzi could be smoother at a Higher speed then either on the first two.. Although the Tuono was the most stable with bags at way past 100 MPH.. Guzzi would get pushed around at higher speeds, and stiff cross winds.  The 70 mph of the V-7ii is a nice balance overall.I had many bikes setup for sport touring, and know exactly what works for me..

Sarah,
Yours is a great looking bike, and if the Stornello did not show up, the 850 certainly was on the Radar. Guzzi did a nice job with that one.. Once my bike was sorted out it is a joy to ride. The 40 plus HP is plenty, and there is really no need for any more.... enough to push it 70 mph anywhere ,and all day too.. :grin:It has been returning about 60 MPG with 1000 miles on the  bike..(rural roads)Happy on mid grade, and the bike prefers it over higher octane gas.4000 ft riding area..The ability to do any software upgrades with Guzzidiag has sold me on this bike... I also wanted the last version on the old school motor. It's proved to be the right move for me.. The last pictures are of the C-box side bag, and best overall setup. Being a SC type high pipe, it takes a bit to get things to work..I did make my own C-bow mount for the Stornello, just used some old parts from the Tuono.Everything is pieced together, but it came together just right..

Thank you again.  It's great fun setting a bike up just to suit.  I can pass the time this winter just pondering my options.  I'm committed to using a seat bag for the foreseeable future, but I won't get away with 20 bucks like you did, what a bargain.  That Stornello is such a nice bike.

Thinking out of the box works well. Just about any layout look, functions well with the V-7. The Hepco/Becker C-bow Royster are my favorite bags on this. Built in waterproofs liners are nice. The ability to turn a side bag into a tail-bag works with the box on back. It allows for the Saddleman bag to tag along too.

Just going to jump on board here. My Centenario arrived last week, managed a quick ride out to get a fresh tank of petrol. First impressions. Very light, nimble, sweet free revving engine, nice gearing, found the riding position very roomy and comfortable (I’m 5’11”). Like how it’s put together. Not sure whether I will swap out the exhausts or not, we have a lot of horses and other wildlife around here so I may just keep it stock.

I have swapped out the mirrors (over the weekend) for some bar ends because I just prefer them. My wife says it’s the best looking bike I’ve had and she really likes it, she said it’s like the bike from the Great Escape film. Now we all know it’s not but I get what she meant.

I have seen the Special version in both Grey & blue and they looked stunning but I wanted the more ‘urban’ look and I really like it. A lot.

Thanks Sarah. Yea, it did cross my mind more than once buying a bike in late November! Everything I read suggested MG were only doing these colours this year so I sort of had to get one while I could. Anyhow, might get the odd ride in here and there even over winter.

Which bar end mirrors did you go with and do you like them?

I’d love to find a thread focused on mods people have made instead of poking around YouTube, etc…
I think my list will include some kind of luggage that doesn’t ruin the cafe look, some bar end mirrors, possibly aftermarket exhaust. Would also like led turn signals. And maybe heated grips.

Morning. I have used unbranded eBay bar ends many times now over the years and never had a problem (like £15 cheap). Slight amount of faffing about with washers and thread lock to set them just ‘so’ but it’s very straightforward and I love the sleeker look. Rear Vision is fine. My Pan has mirrors down and low so it’s a very familiar place for me to look when riding.    I have considered branded bar ends but don’t see the point when the cost is so significant.   The V7 has a very clean bar end weight and thankfully a threaded bar so fitting is sooooo easy compared to a hollow tube (IMO). Pic below sorry the light is poor it was in the garage.

I've fitted some eBay specials "HJR products". Well made and no vibrations at all. I'm also using the MG flat bar and no bar end weights needed.

Nice.
Got to ask, how does it run with that aftermarket exhaust then? I presume you have not been able to alter the ECU from Euro5 standard. Are you running it with the baffles/db killers in? Even though it may sound louder/nicer (depending upon what you like) I wouldn’t want to mess the fuelling up in the process.

I will butt in here and report my experience.  As far as I know there are no maps available for the V7-850.  When Beetle and company come up with a map I will buy one though.  Not because mine isn't running well, but due to the positive experiences I've had with Beetle maps on my other Guzzis.  I am sure a Beetle map will optimize the V7-850.

I am running mine with the Mistrals and left the db Killers in.  The Mistrals are Euro 5 compliant.  My bike runs very well and sounds good with the db Killers left in.   I have no personal experience but have heard that fueling isn't perfect with the db Killers taken out.

This shop offers a gadget to remap the E4 V7 but not the E5. But......they do have the same thing that works on both E4&5 V85. I think Beetle can not be far from getting it done.

Thanks, really appreciate the feedback. That’s very positive. I don’t know how many 2021 V7’s have been officially imported into the UK but it’s probably not many, 20-30? Just a guess. I can’t see there being any aftermarket tuning available over here with numbers so low.

Most importantly - the frames

On first inspection I don't think any modification to the Givi rear rack will be necessary.  The rear attachment point of the UG frame is the same thickness as the Givi rack spacer, so just remove spacer and insert UG frame.  Will try tonight.

Quick update. While the Unit Garage pannier frames fit perfectly they don't fit with the Givi rear rack.  Bug*er. Oh well.  Frames are staying on the Givi rack is off.

Seems at least a couple people here got the Unit Garage bags and mounting racks and are (presumably) happy with them. Has anyone tried these, or have any advice on trying them? They look pretty similar, at least for the canvas options, at come in at significantly less cost than Unit Garage for total of racks + pair of (canvas) bags.
I'm still waiting for my Centenario to be delivered, so all I can do for now is peruse the internet and dream...

https://lapoderosagoods.com/en/prod...ddlebag-support-both-sides-satin-black-copia/
https://lapoderosagoods.com/en/product/dakhla-12l-saddlebag-safari-beige/

Both vendors have larger and smaller bags. I lean towards the smaller ones based on looks, I think I would just throw on a pillion pack to support a longer ride if needed, but that's all an "I think" :p
Thanks in advance for any insights...

As someone who appreciates minimalist when it comes to tank bags, the "tank band" with it's little attached bag looks pretty interesting :)

The panniers are another solid alternative to the choices I was already looking at, but I'll agree with Kildareman that the Unit Garage racks still look the overall best. Might be something with compatibility with different rear racks? it appears the Unit Garage front attachment is under the seat (?) and the others are bolting on using the top shock mount...
I'm not planning to add a rear rack, so I think I'm going with the cleanest look (Unit Garage)

Yes the front mount is under the seat - two threaded M8 holes in the cross piece. I ran a tap through first but the bolt will do just as well, as the threads were gunged up with paint/powdercoat.

Adjustable levers for the Centenario from MG are rather expensive and unobtanium so went with Probrake levers (probrake.de). A set cost the same as one MG lever. I went with the Tector model -
Adustable
Span
Lever length
Lever protection (swings up) Not planning on trying this one though

The Fly screen is from LFS GARAGE (http://www.lucianofavalli.it/cupolini-moto-guzzi/)  It's the "Sport Cup" in stainless (it's clear laquered) I added the eagle - It's a MG tank eagle I got from TLM in the Netherlands but I'm sure you can find on the bay etc.
LFS does lots of customisation to the basic screen as required, including painting the eagle etc. I went with the "Sport Cup" as it was the tallest available at the time.

Hope that helps.

I have two bags from Saddlemen  - one large (almost too large) and one smaller. I modified them - like you did Sarah - so that I can leave the female strap buckles on the bike and with four clicks, the whole bag comes off and gets carried into wherever. I don't know about the rest of you older folks, but I don't like tail trunks because I have to give my leg a good swing to get it over the seat and end up hitting the trunk half the time. I had a tail trunk on an Edelweiss trip and they kindly took it off. It was much better after that. I highly recommend Saddlemen bags.

Available for the Special too, chromed to match the factory grab rail.  I don't know a thing about these folks, but I'd sent an email early on expressing interest.

My Special in its current state. Hepco and Becker soft panniers (bags?) on their C-Bow frames, fork gaiters from a Stone, M-G crashbars, Dart blue tint screen, Mistral short reverse cone exhausts (the single best mod). I’ve done 1000+ miles now so I’m beginning to use more of the performance. Great handling, lovely sound….

That bike is a beauty, Alan!  How about a side view when you get a chance, please?  Welcome to the forum, by the way!

Checking over the bike I found the 2 m5 headed hex bolts holding the headlight arms to be barely tight. Hmm. Headlight now 15mm higher and bolts tight

Cadre has a demo silver special; Yesterday I sat on it, fired it up and checked out the instruments (I prefer them over the ones on the stone). Very cold day; didn't have riding gear with me, so I didn't take it for a ride. He has a blue one that I think is gorgeous. When we get a day with decent weather, my wife and I will take a ride on the demo. If we like how it feels and rides, we will buy the blue one. I have already thought about possible mods: center stand, MG side cases and rear rack (I have a Givi universal mounting bracket and a few monolock top cases), Kaoko throttle lock, Givi A34 windscreen.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Obviously we are all biased here :-)
Looked at racks and side cases. Don't make my mistake of trying to mix and match. Bought the Givi rack 1st then fount Unit Garage side frames and bags. They don't fit together, even after some hefty Givi rack modifications. The Unit Garage side bags are my go to. The bags sit higher than the other bags I've seen, including the MG. This I prefer.
Get a cramp buster rather than a throttle lock - just my personal choice.
The MG screens look good, better to my eye than the Givi.
MG center stand - easy fit. Have a spring T puller handy.
Pyramid Plastics front fender extender. Cheap, perfect fit. I attached with a high grip mastic rather than the plastic rivets.
Givi crash bars. Stupidly over engineered and a great mounting point for my Dineli D2 lights
Don't know if exhausts are in the must have category but changing to short Mistral's helps with both looks and sound, without being obnoxious.

Seems I have a warranty claim.

My lights switch - 3 position on the Centenario/Stone works fine but has never had a definite "click" between the 3 positions. Came up in conversation while I was at MegaBikes in Dublin and before you know it video done of mine and a new stone and claim being sent in.

I just thought it was a quirk of Guzzi.

You may well be right.  I just haven't worked up the gumption to call Sloan's.

The Atlanta dealer has charged $50. in the past to do updated maps. Reasonable, I felt.

Perfectly reasonable.  Thanks for sharing that.

Interesting you guys posted this. Appreciate it. Anyone deal with the upmap device? Does beetle have anything for that?

My UpMap arrived today (from the same source). As I understand it I can download the latest OEM map for free too. In this way I should be able to restore the latest original map without going to a dealer. (Mine won’t allow access unless they service the bike….).

Yes, a reasonable charge to plug in/update a bike - if you owe it. That’s the issue I’m in discussion with MG about right now. The prior map had a number of defects from throttle response to erroneous fuel mileage calculations. Based on that it should be covered under warranty.

I am happy with the Upmap. Right now I believe when it comes to remapping the E5 bikes Upmap is the only game in town.
