Small e ring or poodle ring NGC
« on: February 27, 2015, 04:32:22 PM »
I'm finishing up the commie thumper  ;D and both the tach and speedo are udders skyward. Made a fixture to pull the bezels off, and I'm pretty sure I can repair them. For the speedo, I need a small e ring, about .015" wide, probably fitting a 3/32" shaft. I haven't measured exactly yet. Just asking where I would be likely to find a dinky little e or poodle ring like that.
TIA

McMaster-Carr has them, but you'd have to buy 100 of the little buggers. Is there an Ace Hardware nearby? I've found stuff like that in their selection of hardware.

Possibly a small engine repair shop with small carb parts inventory. Like the clip on a needle of a Honda carb??

I'm aware of that, but the shaft is .125". 1/8" in Merican. It's not the first time I've seen Merican dimensions on Yurp stuff. I'll have to get some really skinny calipers on it tomorrow to see wat the groove diameter is. I'm still betting 3/32".  ;D One like that and a dab of JB weld will fix this sucker, I think.. Saving a couple of hunnerd bux would be good. (Guzzi content)

I was wondering what a "commie thumper" was, and I own a Skorpion.

If you can wait until tomorrow, I'll check my carb parts for a clip.

Do you have an Applied Industrial Technologies branch near you?  I think they have a service counter where you might be able to pick up  single small item like this.  That used to be the case at the former Detroit Ball Bearing branches that Applied bought out in the late nineties. They also have a great website to search for all things bearing related.

Otherwise, you might try Small Parts Inc. a catalog hardware company that has alot of unique miniature items.

Misumi Corp may have them.  You'll need to be some kind of business entity and there is probably a $25 minimum order.

Maybe a local clock repair shop, hobby shop, turn table repair shop,

Just came in from the shop. The e ring off a 30mm Delorto needle is perfect.

I'll bet you can find them on the armature of tiny electric motors, too -- like the ones in an old printer or toy.
