Title: Electric vest connectors
Post by: willowstreetguzziguy on April 28, 2015, 04:00:54 PM
I am in need of an SAE-2 Pin Quick Disconnect Wire Harness for my wife's Eclipse electric vest.

I see them for sale on the internet but not sure what gauge to buy... 12 or 18 gauge?

I plan on wiring it to the battery.

18 gauge would be pretty wimpy for an electric vest. Even if it handled the current without overheating, and it might, it would be fragile. Nothing like a broken wire far from home of a freezing cold day.
I would get the 12 for sure.

Wayne, I would vote for 18 gauge, 12 would be too stiff wouldn't it?
I'm just going by the wires on my Girbing Vest, quite small.

I've had a number of thinner ones break over the years. I now get the 'larger' wire gauge when I buy them. But to be honest, I don't recall the gauge. I may be comparing 24 gauge and 18.

Buy both, then decide.
