V7 Speedo Error

With the original Sports Demon rear tire I was getting an error of nearly 10 kph at 100
With the Avon 140/80 17 Avon Roadrider MkII I have on now its pretty much bang on when I go past a radar sign or get my buddy to compare me to GPS
It was a bit of a tight squeeze, I had to let the air out to get it in place, next time I will just drop the rear drive off.

I haven't a clue as to the software version it was ZZ who asked
I just pointed out that a larger profile tire brings it to a smidgen of accuracy.

Ha! I was just pondering this last night while riding. My '13 V7's speedo is optimistic by 3 or 4 mph at 50mph (according to waze on my iphone).  An 8% speedo error is quite a bit. This is with the stock tires.

I just looked and while that size is listed on Avon's site, I can't find that size stocked anywhere in the U.S. Interesting.

The EV/Jackal/Bassa, etc had a nearly 12% discrepancy. 11.66% to be precise. You are correct on the V7. 60mph indicated is 55mph according to the GPS that I hooked up on my V7. If Beetle finds a solution, I'll do that. Otherwise, I'll simply live with it. It is good to be aware of the error in any case.

The Norge displayed 15% higher than actual.  I called it Italian Optimism.  I'm sure it's why I still have my license.  That Norge made the scenery go by so quickly...  One of the reasons I'm giving it to my nephew and keeping the RE.  And the Mustang I gave the niece?  She got a ticket within a month.

If you are really interested in an accurate speedo, one which is dead-on precise in both speed and distance, requires no cables, pickups or wheel sensors, no fiddling with software, and absolutely doesn't care what size tire you fit, I recommend a Speedhut GPS speedo. On request, the bezel can be waterproofed.  I have been running one for three years and it has been totally reliable, trouble free and accurate.  A bit spendy, but IMO worth it.  I like knowing my real speed and distance.
