Title: Guzzi deal
Post by: kingoffleece on January 05, 2019, 04:03:04 PM
Local guy dropped Guzzi.  My bud got a 2016 Eldo for 9995.00 TOTAL price.  Brand new leftover.
I believe he told me he has a 2016 Cali left for close to the same price.  Also, two brand new R/E Himalyian bikes for 5K each total.
KustomWerks in Buffalo, NY.  Google is your friend.

And you know I like that "TOTAL" price! Thanks for the post.

It might be a good deal now...  but not for the Guzzi riders in the long run!

But then again, we have become a very "short sighted" society.  Get the deal now is where it's at.

None of us are promised tomorrow.  Carpe Diem!

I agree. It’s sad to see how poorly Guzzis sell. Doesn’t bode well for dealers and the brand. I have been thinking about a California for a while now and the same brand new 2017s have been advertised for at least the last year or so at ever-decreasing prices. Seems to be very little market demand for the California.

A few of my cruiser hater friends shared that if you are going to ride a cruiser it might as well be Harley or Indian since they are iconic brands.

Kawasaki dropped their version of the California several years ago.  The nomad shared most parts with the Voyager and Vaquero so economically they could have kept it around.  They found people preferred frame mounted fairings to windshields.

Points out why one should never listen to cruiser hating friends, I'd say.

Yep.  They were saying that while I was riding a Vulcan Mean Streak and a Vulcan Voyager.  I don't think they ever rode a cruiser style bike.  They never understood my owning them as part of my stable because they knew I could ride.  They assumed cruisers were exclusively for people who didn't really ride a bike.

The issue with Guzzi cruisers, in my humble opinion, worth what you paid me for it...

… is that in North America, the average cruiser rider is dead set on the image of the north American cruiser rider. H-D, Indian... Japanese bikes that require a second look to notice that they're Japanese. Guzzi doesn't meet that image. They're harder and more expensive to "customize" (and the American cruiser image is nothing if not built around the notion that you have to "make it yours".), they don't look like the American Cruiser.

Guzzi sells to the rider that wants a Guzzi, that's pretty much it. The V7 has extended that market a bit, in that the average standard rider was raised on international bikes as their "image", and if anything, a standard Guzzi just adds prestige to the image.
But cruisers? If you have the money, you buy American, if you don't, you buy Japanese.

You have to call them.  I'm sure they want the bike gone.  You'll have to haggle a bit I'd imagine.
