I really wanted to make it to the Virginia Guzzi rally this year, but just couldn’t make it work. I’m reserving this time next year on my calendar.

I got that part wrong - it was actually built by Baldwin. Won't be as big as the Big Boy, but if it was it wouldn't fit on the turntable at Frostburg.

Thanks for the link Charlie. Sad they have suffered some set backs, especially the theft of parts.

Here's my favorite shot from my rally explorations this year. This is milepost 8.5 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, Humpback Rocks Picnic Area. If you stop in, be sure to explore the rear picnic loop, really beautiful back there. I rode in via 64 which has a Sheetz just up from the entrance of the parkway, a great place to grab some gas for a straight parkway shot to Meadows of Dan and something to eat at the picnic area.

This year I made more of a point of exploring off-parkway. Lots of wonderful roads in the area, route 8 south from the parkway was a particularly exciting ride. Some joker at the VA DOT placed a 55 mph sign in the middle of a set of snaking S-curves as if to say 'I dare you to try this here' but I didn't take the bait.

Here's Fred's 1000S that he saved from a misguided owner that was making a cafe racer out of it. (!) Fortunately, the original parts including the parts that had been cut off the frame hadn't been thrown away. Yet.

It is always good to see a 1000S out in the wild!
