Sounds sort of like a 1950 John Deere.

I watched that a few time because I enjoyed the engine's "chuffing".

Or a Matchless..

My mate in my misspent youth had a Thunderbird and used to give me a hard time about my G3L.  One day he asked to ride it.  It was on the stand so he climbed aboard and stood directly above the pedal and reared down as he would his T-bird.  However, I had (sneakily) advanced the spark.  There was a spit out of the carb, the donk fired backwards, his leg collapsed and he ended up with a badly bruised instep which took a week to come right  I seemed to end up with some extra names..........

Yes, 20W50 character!

You CAN hand start it, to be sure. I have a '72 Civile model.....but with a 6.2/1 compression ratio so that it will run on home heating oil, or olive oil, that's not so surprising. The Civile models have an electric start. it's a revers polarity switch for the generator. You have to hold the compression release in, hit the button, and gradually release it. The bike doesn't start so much as wake up... :thumb:
