"Ran When Parked"....reminds me of another classic ad line:
"Barn Fresh"...which usually means..."Needs total nut & bolt restoration!!"

= Does not run now through neglect

That was a succession of poor caretakers. The gas cap says it all. Too bad.

I once bought on eBay a Mercury Mk 58 outboard that supposedly ran when put away. What he didn't say was that it was put away outside two years prior face up with no faceplate. Fortunately all I needed was the tower and gearcase. The only things I was able to save from the powerhead were the two reedblocks and I had to beat the crank out with a sledgehammer to get to them.

Anyone who pays the minimum on that bike should be keelhauled.

I watched my '73 Eldorado leave on the new owner's trailer this morning. At least it was all together. but will need a total refresh also.

“All together” adds so much value. It means pretty much all of the parts are there and you have a fighting chance at documenting how things come apart and go together. Never apart is even better for novices like me.

$500 parts bike maybe. Lots of pricey pieces missing, and no title to boot. $1k is a pipe dream

The only thing that interested me was the timing gears. Can those be fitted to Tonti 949 motors? Charlie knows...
-
Not easily. The gears fit the crank and cam, but not the oil pump. The later pump shafts have different tapers so the gear won't fit. The two pumps are physically different and can't be easily swapped. The shafts and vanes are different too, and don't interchange.
Thanks Rodekyll.
