Maybe buyers remorse?
I have no regrets on going down to 2 bikes, a commuter and a mile munch tourer.
I would try and make the RG work and as others have said, at the end of the day you can always sell and re-purchase.
Heck that’s where most of my fun is anyway, the hunt and capture!

Ive been a HD basher for years, not the bikes but the attitudes, costumes, open pipes, and general dirtbag mindset so many embrace. After hearing my friends wife comment on how comfortable she was on his street glide with an HD ultra super cush seat my wife wanted to give it a try. We weren't two blocks from his house and she said "we need one of these". Me being the considerate husband I am I said "ok" . Who doesn't want another bike in the garage? Bought a Roadglide special about a week later and added the same seat my friend has. We took a three day ride along the coast, about 350 miles per day and Ive got to say this is the most comfortable two up bike I've ever owned. Got home and put my 16 FJR1300es up for sale, sold it in about a week and no regrets. My 17 Griso now feels like a total sport bike compared to the HD. Catching lots of good natured crap from my friends about my purchase.

Wife and I put 30k on an 03 electric glide classic.
I don’t see how any bike could have offer a better trouble free touring bike. When she quit riding a few years back I figured I no longer needed a 900lb behemoth.

I appreciate all the comments and tips on the Road Glide if the RG doesn't give me any trouble then I'll ok with the shitty deal I made . The main problems I have with it is $34000 price, 950 LBS, Engine Heat and the Flimsy kick stand or the Jiffy stand as HD calls it . It fell off the stand 1 hour after I got home but no damage thanks to the crash bars . It was hell for me and my wife to pick it up.... It handles and stops good for a heavy bike plus its so comfortable with a great sound system, Apple CarPlay ,Navigation ,Phone you name its got it . I'm looking forward to riding it in the Ozarks in Arkansas in the fall .

You mean it rolled off the stand.  Properly deployed, Harley's "Jiffy stand" locks in place and cannot retract with the weight of the bike on it.  Until (or if) you get used to it, it will startle you as the bike rocks forward a couple of inches when the stand locks in place.  It's actually a very robust side stand. It would have to be to hold up a 900+ lb motorcycle, and then add another 250 lb of rider that sit on them with only the stand holding everything up.  But, like you, I got careless once and put my bike on the side stand without checking to be sure it was locked in place.  Started the bike up and went back in the garage to get my helmet.  Stood there and watched the bike gently roll off the stand and over on it's side.  Well, at least I know the tip-over switch works! :embarassed:

Like Mike said, Harley's jiffy stand is the best I've had on any bike.  Make sure it is all the way forward, put the bike down on it and it is locked in place.

I personally feel more heat from the sun than I do from the bike, but I don't sit in traffic, and I wear proper leather motorcycle boots and fully Kevlar lined jeans as a minimum.

One day I did want to run a quick errand and was in my street clothes and then I could feel heat from the bike.  But know more than if I ride one of my other bikes in street clothes.

What MM and TWA said about jiffy stand. I think most Harley owners have had at least one incident with "improper deployment", myself included!

With regard to the heat issue, I'm pretty sure they still have the rear cylinder deactivation is engaged by twisting the throttle forward. This helps a bit with heat reduction when idling in traffic situations.

A better way reducing heat is to lose the cat by replacing the header. They are designed to run hot for emissions, so I found replacing the head pipe made a big difference.

I have owned several Harleys over the years and my RG, with the header replacement, runs cooler than any previous ones.

What brand head pipe did you use and did you use the stock muffler ? I like quiet exhaust so I was thinking about drilling out the cat and keeping the stock mufflers I want it to be as quiet as possible .

I bought this 2021 Heritage Classic 3 weeks ago, it now has 2200 trouble free miles on it. My 2019 Road King was flawless for 17,700 miles. Harley builds great bikes now, they didn't always.

Currently riding a 2022 Moto Guzzi V85TT Adventure  and a 2022 Kawasaki W800.

I bought head pipe, mufflers and air intake from Fuel Moto. They also make ceramic coated head pipes that run even cooler, which considering your're in Texas, is worth consideration. I already had the power vision fuel controller from a previous bike, so I had to purchase a new map preprogrammed for the the combo so no reflash needed. They are very good to deal with. I got the jackpot mufflers which aren't obnoxiously loud.

I would not recommend drilling the cat and messing with the stock system like that on a 30k + bike!! Any changes to the exhaust system will require modifications to the fuel management system for the bike to rum properly.

Is there a motorcycle out there that doesn't have "its own set of issues?"  Buy what you like, if you are nervous about having issues, get the extended warranty.  At least there are Harley dealerships and Independent Harley mechanics available if you do have issues, unlike some other motorcycle brands.

Yes, don't go at it with a drill or hack-saw or you can kiss that factory warranty goodbye.  If you go aftermarket while the bike is under warranty, keep the stock parts incase you have a serious warranty issue.  Not likely but you can always put the stock exhaust back on if it needs to go to the dealer for a warranty repair.  Might want to stick with the Screaming Eagle stuff till your warranty expires.

My 2014 Limited had no abnormal heat issues.  The liquid cooled heads were a game changer as far as engine heat abatement, or more accurately heat redirection.

I made no changes to the header pipes or CAT whatsoever because I was never bothered by the CAT heat at all.  I had the Screamin Eagle mufflers (not loud) and a HD tune added by the dealership when it was brand new.  This kept everything under warranty.  It ran perfectly and was very comfortable.  I never thought it was a "hot" bike in any way.  The engine ran so comfortably cool that I removed the cheesy black plastic heat deflectors from the rear frame.  They were not needed.

I have the deflectors, they might work I can't say but I'm running stock, no tune, no exhaust changes, no heat issues

But again my Police seat does sit me further away.

If the Limited did not have the liquid cooled heads I probably would have kept them.  The liquid cooling makes a huge difference in "felt" heat from the heads.

My wife's right leg got so hot that she got a water blister on it while stuck in LA traffic on the way home from a multi day coast ride. Got home, removed exhaust, cut rectangle shape out of collector, removed the cat, welded panel back in and reinstalled headers. Heat issues completely over. Have slip-ons (with baffles in)and stock air filter, bike runs perfect and not really any louder. Like my bikes quiet too. The stock heat shields completely cover where cut was made. The good part is that if you ever need a stock unmolested header with cat they are all over eBay and such for dirt cheap.

Since I never rode with a passenger I forgot that the pillion takes the brunt of the CAT heat blow back.

What was she wearing?  My wife wore kevlar jeans and 10" boots when she rode with me and no complaints about heat on any motorcycle.

When I was young and dumb and wore shorts and flip flops riding, I felt the heat on every bike, not matter how small the displacement.  Go figure.

I drilled out the cat and it does run cooler and its not any louder and runs better with no issues . But I didn't drill out the muffler because I thought it would be too loud . Did you drill out the muffler too or go with after market slip-ons or both ?

My last new Harley Davidson, a 100th Anniversary Electra Glide Standard, cost me $15,000 and change.  The price of a new Harley has gotten WAY too rich for my blood.

In my experience, Inflation, period.

I tried to buy a '94 ElectraGlide Standard.  $13k MSRP.  None to be had in August 1994.  "no money in Standards."  'We only have Ultra's.  $1,000 over MSRP, plus the chrome packages'.  "We can put you on the waiting list"

I bought a '93 Cal III for $7k instead.

Today both brands are close to double those prices new.

I'm considering renting an Indian Challenger Limited for a few days to see if we like it.  Highly improbable I'll like it enough to pay $33K+ for the setup I "built" online.  LOL
