Post by: eightiesguzzis on October 27, 2017, 03:41:10 PM
Greetiings....

No I dont have a LM1 because I liked the LM3 square motor....and I couldnt afford a LM1?

Yes I love the look of the LM1 front fairing

Has anyone advise on retro fitting LM1 fairing and Headlight to LM3?

Currently I am looking into after market LED headlights and LM1 fairing (easy enough to find) but mounting brackets no so easy to source....

cheers

You might get a better response if you posted this in the correct section: General Discussion.

MG Cycle sells the fairing mount brackets, buy the smaller diameter headlight fairing , europeon style and order a 190mm  diameter headlight off Ebay. I have seen all black halogen headlamps on UK Ebay for cheap. The faring brackets mount to the headlight to headlight ears bolts and one lower clip on the bottom triple clamp. MG Cycle sells complete windshield with trim.  You can get the LM1 headlight ears from MG Cycle as well.

Hi
A mate of mine fitted Mk1 fairing/headlight, tank & side covers and seat/mudguard.  Painted it ice blue/silver and black scheme from Mk1.

It looked as if the factory should have built them that way - go for it! Easy to return to stock if desired in future

Cheers
Jason

Would the 190mm be the correct one to fit over the US headlight with the deeper Aprilia ring like this one, or is that a different one?

No, the US imports got the larger diameter headlight that protrudes beyond the face of the fairing.

This one from MG Cycle has a 195mm diameter cut out for the European style headlight.

Firing bracket, a L and R is needed

and the lower bracket

This is a 190mm diameter headlight for sale on eBay UK

Gonna sneak in another question here, and thanks for the links. So does this mean the actual fairing fits both, Euro and US headlight, or is there a different fairing cowl for the US headlight? I found some parts manuals for the 850 Lemans, and one showed the US headlight in the alternate section on the last page with the turn signals, but there was no mention of an alternate cowl.

AFAIK, the fairing body is the same no matter which headlight.

I will measure the new fairing and the old fairing that came on the bike this evening. I think the original fairing that came with the bike has a larger opening but I can't say for certain. The original headlight that was on the bike has a larger outside diameter but can't tell you if the headlight that came with the bike was stock.

Does anyone know if the Tommaselli headlight brackets work on a MK3 fitting a MK fairing and headlight ???

The tommaselli brackets will wrap the fork tubes and carry the headlight, then you can attach the LMI fairing brackets to the headlight and you should be good to go.
