35 and sunny today, 6" of snow tomorrow
« on: November 06, 2019, 01:54:50 PM »
Maybe the last ride of the season to get Stabil in the fuel system. 2 hrs. south of here riding season is a month longer.

Whiteface Mountain with snow in the background.
Had a good season with a ride to Casper Wyoming in June.

OUCH!

I went through the fleet and treated the fuel in everything this past weekend.

Just in case I get caught off guard. But so far we're still good.

Good photo!  :thumb:  Used to hike and ski Whiteface Mt. as a young lad... :thumb:

Although spectacular in the summer months...winter in the Adirondack's can be summer up simply in just one word:

"Brutal..."

As I age (today in fact) brutal is the right adjective to describe Adirondack winters. 36 years ago I could have stayed in Arizona  :undecided: :violent1:, duh.

I had my highest mileage year ever in 1980 living in Az. at 26,000 riding all over the state as an unattached bachelor.

Every two weeks when I get paid I'm thankful and grateful for many things. One of which that we moved from the high tax state of IL to the low tax state (no income tax) of TN. Around this time of year I also remember I don't have to winterize the motorcycle because we can typically ride nearly every week of the year. The Winter of 2012/2013 was especially harsh and long in the greater Chicago area. That's when I made up my mind we needed to move.

And yes, your photograph is beautiful.

PS - 68F and sunny today, rain for tomorrow then it's more beautiful riding weather for most of the extended forecast.

I left upstate New York at age 22, (about 1978)...long time ago.... for one main reason...I wanted to ride a motorcycle all year round.  So Texas, California, Oregon, then AZ...with many other place in between...mostly all for work.

Retired now, age 65, in northern AZ...and no looking back and no regrets.  The weather is "temperate" here year round, although can be toasty in June...but higher elevations (Flagstaff) is just 1 hour drive north.

1980-1984 in Az., formal electrical apprenticeship through the state, met my wife of 36 years there, both of which were/are very good for me. Unfortunately I have not planned well for retirement so I have to wait until I 'tire'.
My wife retires in 5 years, we'll decide then if we stay here or go to a warmer climate...

I too need my two wheels (motor and pedal) year round.

I lived in AZ for a little over a year, came back to PA, it's a long story. I often said I'd move back back for good but I can't take that summer blast furnace, but I consider myself lucky since retired I load up a couple bikes and head to Mesa Az to my buddies for 4 to 6 weeks to break up the PA winter.

70F here today. By 3 I couldn't stand it and had to take a ride. Work can wait. A nice day comes along and I think "not many more like this, this year". But then another shows up and it's the same thing all over again.

68 today, by Tuesday when I want to drive 100 miles to Tulsa to see Tedeschi Trucks Band, it will be in the teens with rain and snow.

WTF?
