I like the chrome and green tanks. This piebald matte one? Not so much.

Like it or not, this is how a company sells bikes like this with small cosmetic changes each year that help to generate continued interest.

The Harley faithful bitch about it each year calling it "paint and badges", but new customers embrace it.

Maybe it's just variety, you hit across enough color combinations and you hit on one for each person.

Maybe it's that those small changes make it feel new each year and that's enough to push someone who was thinking about buying one over the edge.

Maybe someone really liked last year's color and doesn't want the new color so they run out and snag a leftover.

I dunno - but it seems to work.

And certainly it makes more sense than changing nothing and letting sales stagnate.

EDIT - although I think I preferred the green one (and might have rushed out to locate one if I was in the market/on the fence), I have to say the more I look at it I like the lines on that tank, the red stripe does look good. And I just noticed the seat has more padding, that's not a bad thing. Yeah, I like this one too.

Yea, I'm digging it.  Nicest Racer thus far.  Wise move to delete the silly #7's.

The rear of the tank gives the old lemans look and the red stripe is a cool affect with the front frame rail in parallel. I'm much more a fan of aluminum, so the overall suits me much better. I think it's cool.

NICE!

Of course, the value of my 2013 just went down a little.
That's OK, it's good to see the incremental improvements every couple years.

Too much red. It should be an accent, not the main sub color. As always, the number boards are an embarassing affectation. I like the bike. It's just that they dress the "racer" up too gaudy.

I agree.  I had a black-tanked 2012, but even that was a bit much.  I'm thinking the Racer is too gaudy and the Stone is a bit too plain.  Maybe the Special will be just right.  I guess that's why there are three models.

I think Cam's black and silver special (especially with the 1/4 fairing) is about perfect visually.  :thumb:

I think it's a nice update, I'll look forward to seeing better photos and maybe even one in person some day. I agree with Kev's points. For those who were "7" and chrome haters maybe this one will do the trick. Personally, I like the 7s and the chrome so I have the right bike for me. I do like the green too. Personally I wish they would put one out there with the full Record kit, I'm not even sure if they are offering that as an add on anymore. I know the Stucchi fairing is available, but I don't like its design as much as the Record version.

I like it better than the chrome tank racers.. between that gaudy tank and the 'racing' number plates on a 45hp bike... I have never liked the racer..  but this one at least looks much better

I had been hot to get a V7 II Racer in the near future as an around-town bike (to complement my highway bike, the Norge). Now, I am much less inclined. Too much black; too much matte...

I'm loving the satin-finish tank and upgraded shocks.  Always thought the standard racer was a bit over the top styling wise for my taste.  This will be my next bike!

There are limited record kits available again.

Additionally it looks like the Special is being supplemented with scrambler kits for 2016.

Thanks for the info, How does one obtain a kit? Order through dealer or is there another source?

^ That looks great! I am generally not a fan of matte paint, but the new Stones look good. I might consider one of those instead of the Racer (and then fiddle with it by eliminating the rear fender, lowering the gauges, installing LOUDER pipes (hello, Pete!), replacing the seat and handlebars, etc.

^ Ha ha!

By the way, the US MG site has a catalog you can download that shows all of their current bikes. The V7 II Racer is shown with both chrome and green tanks, and with brown seats. This new matte black one is not in the catalog. Interestingly, both the chrome- and green-tanked V7 Racers are new IIs, with the horizontal frame.

Very handsome and well done.  Incremental improvements.  They need to put twin front disc brakes on though.

Waiting for the curtain rise on the mystery bike between a small and big block.

Little Goose still thinks she is the prettiest small block ever made.  She winked at me and we roll out tomorrow morning around 8 AM for a blast before the heat builds.

Best brake set-up that hauls a small block down in a hurry is dual discs up front; one for the hand and one linked with the foot. Stunning system and very safe. Have never locked the rear and amazing how much speed you can scrub with your foot in a hurry.  ABS is all the rage now.

The V7 racer with the green tank is not a - II variant

It is my understanding that the Verde Legnano SE variant of the V7 is a 2015 US only bike and is NOT a -II.

http://www.motoguzzi-us.com/motorcycles/v7-racer-verde-legnano-se.html

Now, have they decided to bring it back for 2016 as a -II ??  I don't know.  But I don't I trust that brochure.

It says V7-II Racer and Verde Legnano for 2015, which is not correct.

But I don't I trust that brochure.

I don't "trust" anything in print from Piaggio/MG.

They seem to have a great ability to put incomplete info out there and/or to change their minds.

So I suspect EITHER could be true in the end.

What's the MSRP on one of these.  At least it would hold value even though the upgrades aren't that awesome

$10,990, according to the link.  It's also a pre-II 5-speed model.

"Hold Value" ?
