US source for dellorto carb rubber (NGC)
« on: September 28, 2017, 07:43:18 PM »
Is anyone aware of a good USA source for "carb rubber", e.g. the rubber tube that allow the mounting of a side draft carb to a. metal manifold? I am looking for something like this bit, available from the UK: https://www.pmtuning.co.uk/polini-rubber-manifold-connector-dellorto-phbh, for a scooter project. The carb in question is a 28mm PHB-type carb on a vespa, mounted to a manifold like this one: https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/intake+manifold+for+phbh+2830_61802000.

I'm having trouble figuring out what kind of shop sells this stuff. I'm currently using a rubber plumbing tube I got from a TrueValue hardware store, but it doesn't quite fit and is of doubtful resistance to petrol. Maybe I'm not searching with the right terminology?

Brilliant, thanks so much. I hadn't thought to look at MGCycle.

you can often make your own intake manifold rubber by cutting up what is called in the industry as "gas tank filler neck hose". Its fuel safe, it has internal stiffening, and cuts well. Doesn't have the sexy ribs cast in to lock the carb or manifold in place, but is fully up to the task. Just find the stuff with the right ID. Gates makes a ton of it. Get the smooth, not ribbed versions.
