Centauro request

I realize there is a forum for these machines but was curious if any of our members would own a Gray ( anthracite color I believe ) Centauro Sport?
Any info on what year that sports were available as well as that particular color combo would be appreciated as I'm sure someone  has one.

I worked at a dealership when the Centauro was new.  The V10 Sport was available in two colors:  Red with white stripes.  Green with white stripes.  There was no anthricite V10 Sport in any of the documentation I ever saw. 

There was a Centauro GT, which was a base Centauro with the addition of windscreen, touring seat, and plastic luggage rack.

So, basically, for 1998 there were three models:

- V10 Centauro




- V10 Centauro GT


 




- V10 Centauro Sport

This is my 1998 Centauro GT.  I came with the bikini-fairing and belly-pan, and black Aprilia mirrors, and I bought the rack on eBay. I also have the stock-plastic seat hump part... 

I added an LED headlight, dual-red (loud) HELLA horns, Hyper-light brake lights, steel timing gears and oil-pump gear, (replacing the weaker aluminum stock ones), and new belts. / brake pads.  I bought with 6500 miles, third owner, bike was originally sold new in Dallas, TX, and now have 15,000 miles on it.  I have ridden 500-600 miles days more than a few times with no issues.  It has never left me stranded anywhere, (yet...)

It is affectionately known as "The Yellow Horse" or "The Beast."  It is my fifth (5th) Moto Guzzi to date and certainly one of my favorites.

What differences were there between the two cosmetically/mechanically?

Had a GT, maroon and silver. It had a small rack on it. It also had the belly pan and fairing, not sure if those were added. My current sport, no rack, white circles on both flanks and centauro sport script on the top of tank. As far as I know just those cosmetic differences.

The differences between the Centauro V10, the GT, and the Sport was purely only cosmetic...

They were all the same mechanically...

Correct. V10 Sport only available red or green. Came with bikini fairing.

All Centauros were the same under the skin.  Only difference was paint/graphics, and in the case of the GT, seat/rack/windscreen. Engine, suspension,  brakes were all same as Daytona RS.

Funny, sounds like something I would do. Sitting around, brainstorming, then ah-ha! Broom sitting in the corner looking sharp, lets call it that!

One of my first Vespa repaints when I was 16 was based off a soap my mom had in the bathroom. I took the soap to the paint mixing shop and had them color match it. The guy got a kick out of it, but made it happen!

If you want something rare, there is a low mileage Blue Centy for sale in Augusta, GA. It goes on Craigslist from time to time. Reasonable around 3500 bucks. Blue stock color from EU. A friend from GA club bought a Hydo from the guy. Nice bikes.

Yes I am aware of the Centis on Cycle trader ….. the only one that interests me at this point would be the all yellow  with low mileage.
Its been on for a while?? looks like there could be corrosion issues but I have reached out for more info.
If any other members have such a creature that is in the condition requested would be good to hear from you.

Someone posted a $2500 Centauro on here didn't they? It had a V11 Lemans fairing, was red and white, had clipons, nice looking machine.

One gentleman looked at it and stated the ergos were not correct for him so he decided to pass.

But - for $2500? It would seem that you couldn't go wrong. If it's the wrong color for you, just buy and it and I'll paint it any color you wish LOL

I'm looking for a factory correct one well kept low mileage preferred.
In a perfect world would be good if it had the Staintunes with Wills mod as would be probably needed to run correctly.

Awhile ago, maybe a year or so, there was a very nice, original yellow one FOR SALE in Tucson...
I met the owner once, (friend of a friend...), and saw the bike in person.  I will try and find out more information ASAP.
