Ride around Hood Canal on Sunday - Oysters
« on: October 28, 2021, 02:25:18 PM »
A friend and I are planning to ride around Hood Canal here in the Pacific NW on Sunday. The forecast says it's supposed to be sunny and in the upper 50s. Whoever's interested is welcome to join us. I'll be starting from Poulsbo and will pick up my friend in Silverdale, then Old Belfair highway from Gorst to Belfair, then South Shore Dr. to The Great Bend. Will stop to eat oysters off the beach near Brinnon. The tide should be low enough if we get there by early afternoon at the latest. I posted about eating oysters at this place before (see pics near bottom):

Will leave my house in Poulsbo sometime around 9:00 am. Be nice to see some other Guzzi folk. Probably will stop for lunch/beers at the Geoduck restaurant in Brinnon.

Been there, done that, highly recommended. Anyone on the fence, go for it! Love it up there.

Oysters on the half shell,  some good beer.  That's good stuff.

And the varieties in the Pacific so good, so briny.  Gulf oysters good too, so sweet.

I need to go to happy hour tomorrow!

Pics from my ride below. My buddy did yardwork so I rode by myself. Spectacular day. Tons of bikes out. 40 degree temps at 10:00 AM, then got up to 57. Tide too high for oysters on the beach so I bought some. Found that I like sea temp oysters better than ones ice cold (refrigerated in ice cooler).
