clutch hub o-rings?
« on: October 02, 2023, 09:29:07 AM »
In putting my transmission back together I realized I forgot to put in the o-ring behind the new deep spline clutch hub on my '76 t3. MGCycle suggests that there are two o-rings under the clutch hub: https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=193&products_id=5067.

But  I didn't see two o-rings when I pulled the old hub off, just the one that fits loosely in the chamfered end. Am I supposed to put another one somewhere in the hub, and am I correct that the larger/thinner o-ring does just fit loosely in the chamfer?

I am hoping that I can get appropriate sized o-rings at the hardware store rather than having to order them.

There is a thick one that fits into a groove on the shaft, and a thin one that goes against the bearing and seals against the chamfer. I've never found either at a hardware store.

Thick: https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117&products_id=1382
Thin: https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117&products_id=1385
