I've caught threads exactly at the point of being reviewed/closed/deleted in that I was able to open to read, able to open the reply window but been unable to post and left wondering until it became apparent that a "lag time" was in play and I tried to post while in the nexus of the electro-universe. Eventually, one flips back and forth enough and begins to think its one's own issue rather than that of inopportune timing.

Todd.

Yes it's not exactly the first time for me either Todd. You explanation may well be it.

You worked for Luap ?

Don't think so, but he was a smart guy nonetheless.

Couple of other things I learned were:

"Do what I tell you, without arguing about it, but don't get me into trouble."

and

"Yes, I know it's hard and frustrating and pissing you off.   That's why they call it a JOB!   And not a holiday ....."

and

"Don't look for a lot of 'thank yous' and 'attaboys'.   You get those deposited into your bank account on the 1st of every month".

He really was a good guy to work for .....

Asking if it's OK?  You've got to be kidding!

Damn, and I thought it was mostly grown men around here.  What a bunch of pissing and moaning.

And this from the moderator…… about sums this topic up. Teary eye emoticon. Seriously??

Very much so. Just finished building my second Guzzi race bike and heading to Spa, Belguim (not Spa girly man day out) in 3 weeks to do the 4 hr endurance race. It's what real grown men do.

Yeah, I was there in '99 sampling some of David's homebrews.  Come on down to the La Rally this fall and I will buy a few rounds.

Interesting some of us can do a nice ride report with photos, something I've seen Rocker request over and over and it'll be mostly ignored. But just ONE old dude gets his feelings hurt and starts a rant and holy crap, call in the debate team. What a bunch of drama queens.

Who are you calling old dude? Watch out Boy - you are out numbered here.

What we really want is a ride report on the bucket truck . How does it handle , tire choice , how is it in crosswinds ? All of the important stuff

Well, it's the internet. So we're supposed to be grouchy, thoughtless, petty, humorless and self-absorbed.

On the other hand, this board is free. You don't like it, go read a stack of old magazines for your Guzzi information. I'm just happy every day that Luap et al even bother!

Well Dusty, it rides like a truck, handles like a truck, rock stable in crosswinds and the mileage sucks.  The lift and generator works fine.  Even though I wear a body harness , it doesn't quell my fear of heights.  But... my son - in -law loves it and can use the extra money.

Damage on the Jackal:  handle bar dent in the gas tank. Bent tree stem in which I've already replaced.  Forks are OK, just a little road rash on one of the lower legs.  Main issue is that the lower steering head bearing oblonged the race belled out housing when the bike went down.  Lee Bruins made a wide steel ring that fit perfectly over the damaged area and makes for a better reinforced housing than the factory had.  The neck has been tweaked a couple of degrees, but I can cut the gusset plates and pull it back into alignment. No biggie.  Rental property updating is taking up my time right now.  Got to get to work
