Damn it my back is going to kill me but I just made a reservation at the Blue Ridge Motel.  I will be pulling in fairly early Friday, June 23rd but will be cutting out Saturday around noon.  (Grand-daughter has a ballet performance I can't miss that night.)  Paperwork will be in the mail in the am.  I am looking forward to putting faces with handles here..............

I have to turn in the final order for the t-shirts this Thursday. If you can't make the rally but were considering ordering a shirt (TALLS are available). let me know before Thursday.

Hi Folks
Brother Peter and I are headed on a road trip this Thursday. Planning on working our way to the rally.
We will be camping but doing it out of a van and bike trailer.

It looks like at Willeville there is not camping for this rig.
Is there another campground you can recommend close by?
We would do day trips to the rally.

Thanks
Paul

First time in several years I won't make it.  Family time/event conflict.  Hope to see you all next year...

I was going back and forth about the rally, or going to my 45th high school class reunion.

The rally won out ....

Guzzisti,
We ended the Va State Rally last June with a question about the future rally plans. I am happy to report that Bob Corfield, a new resident of the state of Virginia, but a long time rider of our wonderful mountain roads and Va Rally attendee has stepped up to be the new rallymaster. For 2017, Bob has decided to keep the rally at Willville, and on our "regular" dates.  That is:
2017 Virginia State Moto Guzzi Rally
June  23, 24, &25, 2017
Willville Motorcycles only Campground
Meadows of Dan, Virginia.
Bob is working on preliminary rally plans and is open to any and all ideas & suggestions......bu t most of all volunteers willing to help put the rally on. The same basic "crew" has been stepping up for decades now, and frankly, we're all moving a little slower these days. New (younger) energy is needed. Bob can be reached at "vtwinbob@yahoo.com"
Happy Holidays,
Ron Komoroski

I made a facebook event on our page for the rally, feel free to to share it around Facebook.

So if I am just now deciding that I can make it and have clearly missed all registration deadlines, can I still come and pay when I get there?

The weather forecast has improved--perhaps rain the first half of Friday and some in the middle of the night Friday to Saturday, but, otherwise, pretty good rally weather!

Who would have believed that that stupid Tropical Storm would go RIGHT over top of Meadows of Dan Friday night?

It matters not ... we're rough, tough, road-ready Guzzista, the rain will just be spotty, and we're off in the morning!!

That statement really makes me feel like crap since I am making notification I won't be able to attend.  I have really been on the fence for about
a week now, but after much deliberation and going over all factors, physical and family related it is just not in cards this year.  (Yes I had even
purchased a new Wally World rain suit.)  I have canceled the room at the Blue Ridge Motel and there will be a couple of extra meals for anyone
who is hungry.  Lets just say life certainly does get in the way sometimes.  You gentlemen ride safe, enjoy the event and all come home
safely......

Has happened to me many a time .... last year I missed the Ohio Valley BSA OC rally in Ohio, something I NEVER miss, for the silly reason that it was our 40th wedding anniversary that weekend, and I'd missed our 25th and 30th and 35th and all the ones in between because it's always the same weekend.

I figured that was maybe too much of a good thing so stayed home for once.

I'm sure it didn't keep the guys at the camp from talking about me, though, so there's a bright side ....

Next time!!

Just got home after a GREAT rally!   Enough Cindy showers to keep it interesting, lots of old friends, a few who weren't there 'cause life changes, and for sure Bob and Joan are continuing all the good traditions that result in good rallies!

Got a few pics, right now gotta get the camping gear cleaned up, Norton INOA rally in a couple weeks.

I pulled up a document to recycle to post the pictures I took at the 2017 Virginia Guzzi rally, and by chance it was last year’s VA Rally trip report.  I read it again and  realized that about half of pictures I took this year are exactly the same pictures I took last year …. me cooking breakfast, Johannes and Christine’s Stelvios next to mine, the campground dog, etc, so that wouldn’t be very interesting; I could just post a link to last year’s thread in that case.  And HarveyMushman has already posted pics of all the bikes and the campsite, so that knocks a few more out.
We had a good crowd, about 50 pre-registrations and about 30 walk-ons, but there were a lot of folks that used to come that either didn’t come this year or aren’t with us any more, so we missed them alland really hope the ones that CAN come DO come … it’s a lot of fun seeing everyone.
At any rate ….

I rolled up on my Stelvio on Friday morning.   The teakettle on top is the symbol that says “I’m Camping On This Trip”.

My concession to GPS -  a Moose Racing enduro map roller.   Very useful item, like an old “Magic 8 Ball” (“Reply Hazy.  Try Again”).

Even had my own shower, clothesline, and ant-proof food bag by the creek -

Home sweet home.

The rally gave credit to the folks who supplied Door Prizes and Raffle Prizes … even our own King of Fleece!

I’ve lived in houses that didn’t have as many square feet as this bike-towed camping trailer …. I still wouldn’t want to pull one, though, I can just imagine it pushing the rear end around on a mountain downhill.   Not that it would, but I IMAGINE that it would …

Jeff the firefighter had just finished putting a clutch in his new-to-him SP-NT – nice looking bike.

My Stelvio’s grandpa camped next to us …

One lone Centauro at the rally … we used to have as many as four or five sometimes back when I had mine …

This is the NEW Willville Campground Dog, Cimarron.   The OLD campground dog, Gulliver, still won’t let anyone pet him after 3 years living there, including Will his owner.   But Cimarron is teaching him better, he loves to play …

OK, the obligatory food picture, I’m like some Facebook freak that has to take pictures of their food all the time.  Frying bacon at 0600 on Saturday morning.   I was trying to make people hungry, but the wind was blowing the wrong way …

Andrew Culpepper pulls up on an Italian Honda (no really, made in Italy) CBR1000, probably unbelievably fast:

The campground emptied out on Saturday as everyone went riding on one of the 3 mapped routes that was passed out with eating places in the middle, a bit of rain but not enough to slow anyone down,

Me, I took off down the Parkway about 40 miles to visit the Museum of American Music, pretty interesting stuff …

Outdoor music in this amphitheater -

Sort of Misty Overlook toward Mt. Airy.   I didn’t know about the granite quarry.

Paul and Peter came in on this olive SPIII and a nice loop, so nice in fact that it won the Charlie Galbraith Award for “Best Loopframe”.  The SPIII doesn’t really have a johnnyhouse mounted to the windshield, that’s just my horrible photo composition …

Rallymaster Bob Corfield looks over the Loop -

After a big dinner with lasagne, chicken, and all the trimmings, the Kermit Chairs come out for the awards ceremonies.   We had a LOT of Kermit Chairs this year, you’d think it was a BMW rally …

Then this morning, it was “Drizzle Drazzle Druzzle Drome, time for zis one to come home ...” and so packed up and hit the road.   Lots of nice roads between Willville and Home ….

That’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it.

Another great VA Rally. Good friends, good time, good food, good drink, and awesome roads. Special thanks to Bob and Joan, hard to believe it's their rookie year.  It was nice to see Ron and we missed Alice. I'll be back next year.
