I have been trying to reassemble my carbs after a cable change on the T-3. I cannot hold my tongue correctly to get the return spring to stay in position and to be able to get the top of the carb body in place to tighten down. What is the secret?

You *can* safety wire the spring compressed, but it's normally not necessary.

I just gather it all together in one hand, slip it in, making sure the pump lever is on the outside of the spring and stays in its ramp slot . Sometimes the needle needs persuasion to go in its hole, maybe the spring pressure on the needle retainer cocks it so I rotate it and it'll go in.

1 tip-you can "thread" the cable through the spring, which you may find better than compressing the spring to get the cable into the slide.

Put the cable through the carb top then put one and on he top in the palm then place the sping in its place and compress it holding it with the fingers of the same hand. Place the clip on the end of the cable then release the spring. Then slide the assembly into tbe carb body. Easy peasy.
