Tire store recomended by Rocker59
« on: November 01, 2017, 01:57:19 PM »
A few years ago Rocker mentioned American Motorcycle Tire........I have ordered tires many times over the years from Dennis Kirk with no problems..But this time they didn't have the sizes I wanted for the 81 Honda 750 cafe project...So I ordered from American Motorcycle tire...Avon AM26, 120/70V17 front and 150/70V18 rear...$210 to my door, a few bucks cheaper than Kirk...I ordered online Sunday night, UPS dropped them off a few hours ago . Late 2016 date codes.... :thumb:

I buy pretty much exclusively from AMT. Tires are always fresh and delivered within 3 business days.  :thumb:

After years of using Motorcycle Super Store to buy tires (and lots of other stuff) with great success they were consumed by JP cycles and no longer perform in the same manner. I have since bought several set of tires from AMT and they are now my goto place of business. Like others good prices, fresh tires and quick delivery. What else could you ask for?

I have purchased from denniskirk but last time I got from bikebandit. It was a bit cheaper for me on all items including new irc tubes and rim strips.

Never had any issues, and I've ordered dozens of tires from AMT. Always good pricing and fresh stock.

I don't see a phone number on their website.  I like to talk to someone when I place an order.

Couldn't find out if they ship to Hawaii.  Not all companies ship to Hawaii or Alaska.

Took me a half hour to install the new tires on the wheels of the Novocaine  project bike...Wide tires on wide rims, you can almost push them on by hand with no tools...

Wednesday night, 11/1, I ordered 4 tires from AMT. First time to try them as I usually order from Motorcycle-superstore or Bikebandit. Prices seemed pretty comparable and got free std ground shipping.

I got a set of Shinko 705s for the GS, A Pirelli Sport Demon for the front of the Thruxton and a Shinko 009 back tire for the FJ09. Just got the third email from them today (first was welcome for setting up an account, second was order confirmation) saying the tires have shipped via FedEx and expected deliver on 11/7.

I'll post when they get here and if anyone cares, the dates on the tires.

I buy my tires from AMT. I think I have bought twelve tires from them over a few years. Never any problems and the tires are delivered quickly and are recent production. My go-to tire supplier.

So, what tires did you settle on?

Michelin Pilot Road 4 GT Rear tire prices for the Norge have gone from $150 to $200 in just 1.5 years.  The front tire price is basically the same as 1.5 years ago.

What gives?  Pretty much the same price on AMT as Moto superstore too....

I have used AMT for a few years, per Charlies recommendation, and have been  very happy. Another place you may check is Chapparrall motorsports. I have used them for many years with excellent service, and I just noticed they are advertising free shipping on anything over $39. I have found  the lowest prices on some tires there, especially dirt bike/atv tires. I just noticed on their website, that shinko is now making a line of "vintage" looking tires.
Interesting!
