Battlax BT46 going on 1000s
« on: January 10, 2022, 05:54:41 PM »
Feeling uncertain on the D404s I put on the 1000s, was googling around and discovered the new BT46. It comes in all the right sizes for old guzzis. So I'll put a pair on the 1000s and report back.

If they're good, I may also put on the LM 850 (I put 90/90 and 110/90 ClassicAttacks on that). That bike rides amazing even on that tiny front tire - feels like a bike that handles far better than what it is. Not a lot of contact patch up front, but it really tips in magically, minimal effort to turn in - undersize tire up front may be a good thing. Reminds me a little bit of riding my old Aprilia RS250. Makes the bike feel lighter. But I run it all the way to the edge and it's a little scary with the little tire up front.

I've ran through a bunch of BT45's on my CX100. They stick pretty nice. Don't know about the 46's

I have the BT45s on my SR500.  Nice tires that install easily, look good and handle well.

I'm looking at BT 46's too. Would rather go with the Conti Classic Attacks but a third more expensive and won't likely do the same mileage either.https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/continental-classic-attack-vintage-radial-tires

BT46 are good classic sport touring tires. I’d say they are not as soft as Avon Road Riders but they wear a good amount better too. Way way better than Pilotactiv’s in every way IMO.

I have a pair of BT46 tires on the way for my V7III.  Dennis Kirk had a great price and they were actually available.  I intended to try the Conti RA 3 but they always seem out of stock.  Over at the Royal Enfield 650 forum the BT46 is very well regarded on those bikes which are quite similar in weight and dimensions to the V7.

Please post your results on the BT46. I have another epic summer ride left on BT45's with my 2013 EV 1100.

Thanks.

I put BT46 on the roadster for the 2021 riding season.
They got about 2,000 km.
I'm well pleased with them so far, but can't say I've given them any thorough test.

BT46's on a 1000s here, ran them last summer and I would say that they are better than the 45's especially in the wet 👍😎

In the November 2021 Issue of "Classic Bike", staffer Mark Holmes put a pair on his
T3; replacing a pair of BT45s. He liked the BT45s, but thinks the BT46s are an improvement
in every way. He was impressed with the newer tires in the wet.

I had a pair of BT45s on my old GB500. Great grip, but tended to wear too quickly for me.
