The 500 single is one of the most under powered motorcycles made, and now they have a 350?
-
you have to soup it up!
-
Use the bike in the proper venue. Around town or on congested city streets, it'll out perform other bikes.

Back in 2001 I bought one of the few 350 Bullits (that's how they spelled it) that Royal Enfield was selling here. Most bikes were the 500 model. Yeah, it was slow and not worth much above 50 mph, but it was fun to ride and got me back and forth to work for the six years I had it. Really simple machine to keep running well and I think the thing would run on paint thinner if that's all you could find. I put 30,000 miles on this little critter before selling it to a guy in New York.

500cc is my lower limit for a street single, but I think this bike is a perfect teaching bike/ first bike or basic city transportation. I hope they sell scads of them. They can only help our cause. My hat is continually off to RE for developing interesting and affordable motorcycles.

They'll probably sell loads of them since their main market is the domestic one (India) and the bike is updated in looks.

The perfect bike to ride with my Harley friends on the back roads where they don't seem capable of more than 45 mph.

Wish I never sold my, first, second third and fourth SR500.

5th times a charm, perhaps?

I still own my fourth SR. I’m glad the street single has made a comeback. It only really needed electric start to appeal to a large audience.

Hell I gave mine to my step son who promptly abandoned it somewhere. Never have learned what happened to it.

speed differences between the 350 and 500 are minimal, they are both slow.
one is marginally slower than the other.
i used to run both a iron barrel 350 and a 500 as a daily transport for years.
doing a 40 miles round trip every day.
with regular maintenance they are completely reliable.
at the time the only issue i had was the spare parts quality, parts were stupidly cheap ( 12 euro for a 350 piston? )
but quality of indian aftermarket parts varied from completely useless, to pretty good and it was hard to judge what was the good stuff.
nowadays with proper importers , and factory parts available this should not be a issue any more.
i now have a daily 50 mile round trip, all of it highway , and a guzzi as daily transport.
but with a job closer to home i would probably still be running a enfield.

Buell Blasts are very capable bikes too.
