V7 shock removal

Anyone had trouble with removal of the top part of the V7 rear shock?
Already had to drill out the Allen bolt on the bottom mount due to factory Locktite (or over torquing).This change to IKONs is turning into a PITA!

As I mentioned in your other post, I had trouble with the top of my right shock.  The bolt came right out, but I had to use a gear puller to get the shock off the post.  There was some substance that I can only assume was a Loctite material on there.  I sanded it off before I put the new shock on.

Maybe it was corrosion.

I thought I remembered that. A gear puller looks in order - plus some hair drier heat.

Yeah, but the salt air keeps me young looking!

Thought about corrosion but the bike is garaged and not that old. Also no signs or corrosion anywhere else.

Same for me.  No problem.

The top posts on mine, both sides, were painted (or powder-coated). I used a puller to get the shocks off, then sanded the posts.

Got it off with heat and a puller. It was coated in a rough black material, probably paint.

This is a pivot point - why wasn't it polished and lubricated? Not only did Guzzi install rather poor shocks, they also made them almost impossible to remove.

The pivot is the bearing in the shock itself, not the post it's mounted on. But yeah, they are hard to get off. It's almost as if the paint wasn't quite dry when the shocks were installed.
