3) Saturday afternoon in Coffeyville KS.

I'm down for KC Union Station Monday to try to get a shot of the Big Boy.

There are about 5 frames of ASA 25 Technical Pan film left in the Rolleiflex f3.5, but the darn spectators will probably be in the way and I'll have to get clo

I saw it a couple weeks ago, when it came through Tucson. Very impressive! The crew is real good about PR stuff too, talking to the visitors and explaining things.  That Big Boy makes the ground shake! Be sure to see it if you get a chance, its well worth it.

I see that it runs right along old highway 40 between Abilene and Salina. Should be plenty of opportunities to see it running.

I'm thinking I'm gonna catch this thing around Inola, Ok. and follow it up to Claremore, then Nowata, then on up to Coffeeville. Quite a bit of the track is right next to the roads on that stretch.

Super cool to see the 4014 Big Boy! I will say the crowds were enormous.

I started out riding to Inola, Oklahoma and parked along highway 88 to watched it steam by (literally). Then fought traffic into Claremore where I couldn't really get that close to it for the crowds of people.

Rode on down the line to Oolagah, and watched it steam by that location. Again there were a continual line of cars on the roadside with people lining the track. After is disappeared from sight, there was a rush of vehicles racing North to beat it to it's next destination in Nowata.

At that point, I decided a run toward home was in order. 150 miles from home and in the thick of deer season, I wanted to get there before dark.

I would have never known about this historic event had it not been for John and this forum. Thanks very much!

I was able to get close, almost too close for a good video. Claremore was when I couldn't get a good Pic because of the crowds. They actually had a bull horn telling people to stay off it and not to touch.    I guess some people have no self restrain or just have bad judgement and don't care for being respectful.

The further away from Tulsa the less people and better view.

If I had been in a car, I would have gone on up to Coffeeville to see the guys, but Debra and Trent wanted to avoid the ride late into deer country. Debra's brother hit one Friday night in his truck, so she is reliving being creaked out by them.  Damn forest rats!   

Oh, and also wanted to get home in time to watch the OU vs Baylor game.

Good time!  Funny, but another Guzzisti was there, too.  Mike Milburn posted a photo on Facebook which had me in the foreground, taking photos.  He was standing 10-feet away and we didn't see each other because we were so mezmerized by the locomotive.

Yes. Union Pacific staff, mainly.  It's my understanding that some (expensive) tickets are available, but I haven't seen how to buy them for any of the legs of this trip.

Sure, I can see doing the whole trip and going from stop to stop.  Should include good dining and drinks and comfy overnight compartment.
