12 amp vs 14amp for 2007 v7
« on: May 17, 2022, 08:21:53 PM »
Interesting to be replacing a yuasa ytx14ahl-bs 12 amp battery after only 2 years

What I noticed in the maintenance book is that the battery is specified as a 14 amp.

Could this be the problem w batteries dying on smallblocks pretty frequently? 12 amp where a 14 amp battery should be?

It seemed like the charger had to be plugged in all the time. In two weeks unplugged it would be clicliclicliclic in the driveway w a no start..

All the yuasa ytx14ahl-bs are 12 amp

After lots of searching i bought an off brand, but 14 amp thru Amazon

Moto Classic
12v 14 amp
230cca

Anyone w experience in this area?

Would those two extra amps hold a charge longer/start easier? Thanks

12ah versus 14ah is pretty meaningless.

You have a parasitic load it sounds like. Do you have a phone charger or anything like that wired to the battery?

The Cold Cranking Amps CCA is what turns the starter.

Is the battery 14 amps or 14 Ah which is Amp Hours.

Just the pigtail for the charger…I’d like to try the pull one fuse at a time and see if i can find the draw

14 amp hours and 230cca for $62 bucks…

One trick is to lift the battery ground side, and pass the power through a blub, like a brake light bulb. If the bulb lights with the key off, then start pulling fuses or connections until the light goes out.

It would also help a lot to measure the charge voltage and the voltage each day as it is sitting.
