8/33 RATIO REAR DRIVE ? ?
« on: October 31, 2018, 12:34:24 PM »
Looking for an 8/33 ratio rear drive for a mid '70s 850.  Does the 2000 Quota fill the bill ? ?

Thanks ------ Josh

A "mid '70s 850" would have had a 7/33 rear drive, not 8/33.

As Charlie says the stock ratio back then was 7/33. An 850/950 from that era will have a problem pulling 8/33 gearing unless it's been severely souped up.

I have a 7/37 and two 7/33s.  This is for a special project and I need an 8/33.  I'm using a convert trans with a 7/33 now.  I can't use a convert 9/34 or I would.  the closest i can come is the 8/33.

I'm not knowledgeable about Guzzi's and what will fit what, especially with all the different models they make.  I've been told the Cal 111 supposedly is an 8/33, but that there are others.  I have a line on a 2000 Quota V11, and believe it MIGHT be an 8/33.

This a list of where the 8/33 gear set was used (according to Stein Dinse). The rear drive housings of these models can be a little different though. One from a EV/California series might be your best bet.

your aware the convert RD uses a 20 tooth spline right?
and the 8x33 will have 10 teeth, you can get creative and weld together 1/2 each of a 20/10 spline coupler. or mod a vert driveshaft by welding on a 10 tooth spline to the rear?

Yes, Thank you = In case I didn't.

I grafted a 20 spline yoke onto a 10 spline u-joint and it works just dandy.

Look, I have just bought a Cali with an 8/33 box. I haven't taken it off and checked it but will if you're interested as I'd love to swap it for a 7/33 especially as it's going to be tugging a chair!

If you've got a decent 7/33 I'll be all over it like a rash! If it's got buggered splines and shitty teeth on the pinion? Not so much!:D

Bill,

Isn't the 9/34 for the convert = 20 spline?
