HaHaHa, I thought for sure they were going to get it to fire up. They were close, I think. They sure threw in the towel, quick... But it was "a business decision"

They started it w/stating fld, enough to suck all the mouse crap into TB's, instead of cleaning airbox 1st. Goons w/tools & a puter.

Its a darn good thing, Guzzis are tough as nails! Even dumb and dumber cant mess em up too bad! I was hoping for a video at the end with the shorter guy riding pillion on the Stone!

They aren't doing it, took it back to lady's barn. After plugging the TB's & heads w/mouse shavings.
-
"It's only a Moto Guzzi." Boneheads.
-
I’m not a mechanic, but I was surprised that they would attempt to start it without first removing the TB’s, air box and clean everything. Plus, trying to bump start it could have done more damage, broken rings etc.

The Lil Old Lady only wants $50 for it. If anyone is close, I'd go get it.

They said $500. Still a bargain.
-
They were saying they thought there were mice in the airbox in the beginning, and then tried to to start it.
If it was ready to go and looking good, it would sell for $2500 to $4000. No matter if a hundred hours of work got it running like new without any new parts, it would still be a beater and be a hard sell.
If I were 20 year younger without 7 motorcycles, I might think it an interesting project.
-
I rode right by there last week. I enjoyed my EV but more interested in V85 or V100 today.

I had an ‘03 Stone. That’s an ‘02. Just looking at that seat makes my ass hurt…

If I was nearby, would get it for 1200 bucks in a heartbeat !

I think those guys had a thing for mouse poop  Peter
-
At least take a leaf blower to it first then tear into the airbox. "idiots" yes.

Looks like you'll have to adopt this one.

It's an easy one, go get it.

Did they really take it back to the barn?
-
Yes, said it wasn't worth it, needed throttle bodies after they stuffed them full of mouse shaffing.

I contacted the guy trying to get a phone number for the people with the barn/bike. He told me he was going to "facilitate" the sale of the bike and was going to advertise it for $900.
-
Ham fisted morons.
-
Hey! Even morons gotta make a buck.
I'd buy it for $900 if it were within a 2 hour drive.

Find their shop, then walk across the street…
-
+1...and wave to the morons as you pass by with the bike on your trailer.

I would have done exactly that, but it's an 8 hour drive from me. No telling what could happen during that time given what we've seen on that video.
-
Ransomville is about 6h 30m from me. That's about 6h 15m too far for this bike after these clowns sucked all that crap into the TBs and engine.
-
Think about this, they are most likely charging $100+ per hour labor! I pity their customers.

By posting online videos like this, their business should have expected results.

I rescued the bike! It is in better cosmetic shape than the video showed. It has huge potential the front rim and spoke Nipples are corroded

, for tubes need work.

Glad it got saved from the goofballs. Just cleaning it would be a better idea of what you got. Good Luck on it.
-
The only parts I'd be concerned with are the forks. The pitting on the chrome looks superficial. You might get away with just cleaning them off and checking with a file to smooth out. Good luck! :thumb: What did you get the bike for and did you buy direct from the owner or the shop?
-
Nice!! And at least you know after the clean up, you need to pull the tank, and remove the air filter/mouse house. then pull the throttle bodys!!! That part of the diag is done for you, but it SURE would have been less effort to check the aircleaner first. Good luck, and hope you get her back into shape.
-
Good score! Bet it cleans up well. Let us know if the mouse swarf penetrated the air filter element and got into the throttle bodies. I suspect that it hasn't.

Some 0000 steel wool should clean up the forks. The rims should be checked closer as they were prone to rusting inside. My Stone barely see water and I have chased interior rim rust at tire changing.

Look at the video, they start it w/fluid and suck it in, then look at the TB's and it's full of airfilter. It started on the start fld so it's down inside deep.
-
Didn't see that part of the video. Well, that will be fun to clean out... The mouse nests I have found have always been in the outer part of the airbox. Never seen them chew through an air filter element. Guess I can't make that statement anymore.
I bought a Tundra in January from upstate NY. Drove it 300 miles home and found the airbox packed solid with mouse nest, complete with a mummified mouse. Very surprised that the truck ran at all. The mice didn't chew though the element though.
