7v 850 exaust wiggle???
« on: August 18, 2022, 07:35:29 AM »
So just lost a nut on the back end of my exaust. the tab that holds it to the frame. replaced it washer nylon lock all good. noticed that when i would give my mufflers a lil wiggle they were moving in the collar where the cat meets the head. I see like some mesh looking brillo stuff there between the cat and header end. should this have play in it? I cranked down on the clamp a bit but still have play on both sides. one more then the other. It seems as though my mufflers are just kinda sitting in there. not really held by anything this is not correct right?

Check the nuts where the header attaches to the head.  They’re known to loosen on several Guzzi models, V7 being one of them.

I'll check that but it's where my catalytic converter meets my head pipe. It just kinda seems to be sitting there. Is this correct or should this be clamped down more?

Nothing should be loose on any of your exhaust system,so evidently something needs addressed.

The brillo thing is the gasket. It compresses when you tighten the clamp and prevents exhaust gasses from escaping. If you have movement there, then the problem is elsewhere. Check the silencer securing bolts and anything else that attaches the exhaust system to the frame.

So tightened down the clamps around the brillo gasket and tightened where my silencers /mufflers meet the frame not getting any more movement from what I can tell
