Happy Birthday USMC, From a retired USAF career enlisted aviator. Have an awesome time at the birthday celebration.

I almost feel like I retired a 2nd time as the aircaft I crewed on was retired last year. The “final farewell” festivities were pretty awesome.

Crew members who retired before I started my flying career showed up along with many of those I flew with…and those that started after I retired.

I’ve been retired half as long as you…15 years now. After 23 years it was time for me to go. Not that I wanted to, I was still having more fun than a person should be allowed to in uniform.

Reunions are infrequent…last year’s retirement was the 1st reunion in a dozen years. Was good catching up with old crew members & squadron mates I’d not seen since the last reunion or my retirement.

It seems like the Marines are a tighter group of individuals, I had severed in the Army and it was a short contract, but never kept in touch with my close circle.  Military life is so diffenrt than cilivan life, I wish I would have stayed.
