97' EV1100 Cali wiring loom help
(1/1)
Costellon:
Greetings inmates,
I am currently restoring/ rebuilding a 1997 EV1100 California. Due to the machine having been left out in the elements and in a very sad state for many years the wiring loom has pretty much fallen apart.
I managed to find a pretty decent loom and am now at the stage of the build where I am fitting it. I have a few wiring diagrams but they are black and white and I am having extreme difficulty in tracking the colours in order to ascertain what connector goes where etc ....
It has been easy enough to identify connectors for coils and injectors but i'm completely ignorant of which connections are for cyl's 1 and 2.
Relay connections, fuse connections and units under Lh side panel are all in place and connected.
Regarding the sensors - most of the connectors are similar !!!!
There appears to be letters stamped on sections of the loom (DX/SX etc ...) but I cannot find any reference to these anywhere.
Can anyone offer any advice please ? Any images of wiring loom routing will also be appreciated.
If I knew what connectors went where I could have this wiring sorted in a matter of hours and move onto the tasty stuff.
Apologies in advance for my ignorance, I’m used to BMW airheads and wrapping my head around the Cali has been a challenge.
Many thanks.

If you look in the FI manual, it tells you all & it's the same as EV mostly. It tells color in words, size of wire, and is large in size. I have it in hard copy. You won't find more info than this book. All the wiring schematics with colored lines I have looked at are wrong. I read the printed color, it's been that way always since I started reading them in 76.
In Italian DX is right SX is left.
I ride a 98EV, the Tech Rep here gave me a 3'x 4' plastic covered diagram, some is fuzzy cause it was before the digital diagrams that started about 07.

Not always 100% but pretty close regarding colours are Carl Allison's wiring diagrams

The "This Old Tractor" site is very good and Gregg the site host makes and sells looms and loom sections for a lot of older Guzzis, should you need.

Many thanks Guys,
The information and links that you both provided helped me solve the enigma of the Guzzi Leccy ... so far ....
I'm still waiting on a few parts so i'm not out of the woods yet, but as we say over here "i've broke the back of it".
I'm going to worry about routing wiring when my Crankcase breather pipe and fuel filter arrive.
Thanks again.
Regards to all.
