Considering trading my Breva

Been considering trading my 06 Breva 1100 for either something from the V7 range or a Triumph modern classic. Just looking for something a little bit more my style. Any suggestions/insight on this?

Sorta hard for us to make recommendations on your style.  If I was going to suggest anything I would suggest going to the dealer and test riding bikes and paying attention to the smile factor.

19 years old and looking for something more your style than a Breva 1100? Suzuki, Aprilia or maybe MV Augusta?

I guess a better way to phrase this would be that I'm looking for comments on the more retro bikes.

I had a B11 that I'd bought new and kept for 5 years. It was a great bike, but not "me".

I had a Jackal for almost 10 years that I liked a lot, but I didn't love it cosmetically.

I replaced them with a V7 and couldn't be happier.

The V7 is a different animal in size and very satisfying to ride.

I like the neo-Bonnie too, though it's a bit larger and heavier. And I'd rather not be bothered with a chain or those more involved valve adjustments.

I might add one to the fleet one day anyway... But I don't really miss the Breva.

In your case you need to go ride what u think you might like.   Going from a bi to small block you would be giving up a good clump of grunt, but, you would be losing a good deal of fat!  The Triumph is nice, very popular, but I find the motor a bit pedestrian.

I would stick with a guzzi, just find what works for you

Just go for the Guzzi V7, you won't regret it.

Depending on how tall or long legged you are, a triumph scrambler with $300 added for progressive shocks and you'll be happy. More reliable that MG but you dont get a shaft drive. Either way, Triumph or V7, you wont be upset, as others have said, try to take a test drive and see how you like them-

I don't get a girlfriend allowance
I'd love to claim an AMG e55 and a Lotus Elise in the garage- but it's a one-horse stable featuring a spare fridge, cake baking supplies, and stuff we're too lazy to dump at a garage sale.

Get a different bike, split up the mileage (spread out maintenance costs - Guzzi content) , and enjoy the difference when you switch it up.

The Triumphs have a bit more power and the parallel twin is pretty nice.  Most reviewers consider it more refined than the V7.  I guess they aren't into the quirkiness, et al.  The Triumphs weigh 100 lbs. more than the V7, so the power factor almost disappears.  Both the V7 and the Triumphs have pretty poor suspension components as delivered.  They need to be upgraded and there are lots more options for aftermarket options with the Triumphs. 

So much for the rational stuff.  I have had a Scrambler and a V7R.  I'm sort of leaning that direction again, but if I get anything close to either, it will be a Thruxton.

As beautiful as I think the triumph thruxton is, the fact that such a fat pig of a bike has only one front brake rotor is one of the dumbest design choices I've seen in a while. I lust after it from a aesthetic standpoint, but the character of the engine, the weight and the crappy brakes make it a no-go for me. If I were to buy a retro style new motorcyle (which is very much what I'm into) I'd go with a V7 special or a 2012 V7 racer.

the 2012 v7 racer in black is what made me want a guzzi in the first place. It's possibly one of the prettiest motorcycles ever made IMO. It's down on power... but oh well. owning a guzzi is not about power

I think I'm going to go ride the bonnie and the scrambler next week, and see how I like them. I had the pleasure of getting about 40 minutes on a v7 during bike week here in Daytona. Only downside was the suspension and I wanted a little bit more power. If I didn't already have a second bike and a plan to move cross country in a few months I'd probably just keep the Breva.

Reset the ecu behind the handlebars.  Shift at 6K rpm's and cruise at 5K or take an advance rider's course with Edelweiss Tours in the Alps.
