Riding Into History
« on: May 12, 2018, 12:47:43 PM »
Just a reminder for those of you living in the S.E. US. Next weekend 5/19 is the Riding Into History Concors held at the World Golf Village in St. Augustine Fl. This is the largest and classiest vintage bike show in the Eastern US held in a beautiful setting. The guests of honor this year are 5 time Grand National Champion Scott Parker and master tuner Bill Werner. Competition motorcycles are the highlighted group this year so expect some rarely seen machinery. This show is run by volunteers with all proceeds going to the "K9's For Veterans" organization. ridingintohistory.org

The World Center is located outside of St. Augustine and my Quota won an award in 2007. I still have the bike and it has just under 60,000 miles. Prior to the event I removed the engine and trans for a cleaning and repainted the center stand. I drove the bike to & from the event when I lived in Inglis,Fl. The judges couldn't get over how clean the bike was for the mileage and that I  I drove it across the state to the show. I simply stated "Guzzies are not for trailering, they are for driving"

I did not get the Jackal fixed yet. The people that hit me most likely will screw me over. They have not come through and it's been a couple of months.
I'll get it going pretty soon.
I am not sure yet what time I will go.

Yesterday's event was a success despite the threat of rain that kept some entrants away. There were 7 guzzis on the bricks. This year's grand marshall Scott Parker made the rounds greeting the crowd nice guy.

Awesome! That aligns with my schedule for a trip to S. Carolina/N. Georgia.

Unfortunately I'll be in the pickup, but it's a walking event so!
Something wistful and amusing, yet poignant.

Yes, I was there with the LM3.

I was fortunate to win a trophy.  Those don't come too easily down there with that bunch!

It's a premium motorcycle venue and I would liken it to the Quail Gathering at Carmel CA near Pebble Beach.

I was able to mix and mingle with all sorts including several Guzzi people who had bikes on display.

Quite a variety was there.  Laverdas, DBD34's, Manx Nortons, Matchless, vintage H-Ds, Indians and much more.  Things were capped off with an early Pierce Arrow 4-cylinder.

A Matchy Compy. (unless he has painted the barrel aluminium). We got very few of those out here, and have never seen one in the duplex frame. A special perhaps?
