V700 Swing arm
« on: December 11, 2018, 08:59:57 AM »
I am putting together an early V700 from a basket case, frame # 1961. What is up with this aluminum plug? Looks like a factory installation.

and a view from the inside:

This anomaly is on the bottom side of the swing arm.  DonG

Probally a trial for a factory vent, similar to BMW at the time.most of the 700,ambo,eldo had that boss for a few years.
Your serial number looks familiar.
Did you acquire this bike in Cornwall Ontario?

If yes ask me how i know.

My 700's have the casting but no cap, and they are not drilled through.

TomB: I believe this bike came from North Dakota, previous owner bought a pair of V700's from a cycle shop there a number of years ago.  DonG

I was thinking that this was a vent system that didn't pan out, so they turned the tube 180* so the mistake was at the bottom and out of view.  DonG

DON G

The reason I asked is because I sold a V700 to Barry Cox in Cornwall about 15years ago. Serial # was low -- I think the serial  # was 1061.

Enjoy your project

Barry s number is 613 938 9625 He may be able to assist you.

I usually ask him if the Canadian's are insulating the Border this year . He says yes but it never happens.
