Craigslist Paso
« on: April 30, 2018, 10:47:34 PM »
Years ago I sold my 750 paso Ltd. It was a good bike but it didn't make enough power to haul around a moose like myself.
Scored this one off of craigslist from the original owner (former Guzzi owner and good guy).  Been sitting since 2014 with 21,000 miles. New belts etc on order.
2K.

I'm not really a Ducati guy, but I have a thing for the misfits.

Cool, looks like a very nice find! The 907ie has basically the same engine as a 944 ST2, with water cooled heads (only) so as I recall it has no head gaskets like an air cooled Ducati. I think its one of the better Ducati engines and should go a long time.

Negatives are that it might have an early less robust clutch setup? The coolant expansion reservoirs crack and are unobtainium.  The front brakes tend to warp and IIRC were 300-mm like an early Daytona, not 320-mm like 'everything' that followed.  Nothing insurmountable!

Technically, not a Paso.  My brother in Oregon has one and a blue 750 Paso as well. I rode the 907ie a bit while it was here. Fun, but painful for me after about 50 miles.

Congrats Turin, I saw that on Saturday morning and by early afternoon it was gone and in Your garage! Mine is currently in the back of a semi headed west from Michigan. I hear what your sayin' about the misfits! Another Italian mistress in the fold.

Yup, it's an early one with the 300mm rotors. Clutch was replaced ( Barnett) as were the brake lines (galfer SS). I'm not worried about the brakes, afterall I've been riding around on a 69 ambassador for the past couple of weeks. Had a few pucker moments.

I've always liked these.  Seem to recall that the output of the alternator was rather weak, and if most of your riding was in town, you'd run your battery down in short order.  Great find!

My ex got the 907 in the divorce. She still rides it, 40k miles runs like a top. I have an inexpensive fix for the coolant tank issue BTW.

I didn't make it beyond 10 miles.  It put my unit to sleep.

Just sold my 750 a few weeks ago. Never could get used to looking around my hands to look in the mirrors. And the constant attention to keep it running. There was always some problem when I went to go for a ride.

Hi Stubbie.
Will be coming through Perth on my Oz lap so a couple of dim sims and a quiet one wouldn't go astray.
Welcome BTW.

His does have a Corbin seat, so that likely makes a difference. When I was younger, I rode it up to the Morini BBQ at Hermy's in Port Clinton, PA (about 150 miles one-way). Last ride, 4 years ago, before he took it out west to his home in OR, I did a 250 mile day and was very sore and stiff the next day.

She's a runner! Nice motor on this... I've owned a 650 Pantah, A 750 Paso, and ridden several of the 900SS and 999 variety. This is a nice motor, all about midrange and grunt. I won't be winning any races , but she makes deep baritone noises. The Corbin Saddle is nice. Brakes need help, maybe some softer pads will help.
With new tires, full service registration etc. I'm still under 3 grand out the door.I graduated high school the year this bike came out, and always lusted after the goofy looking thing. ( I'd rather have a 851 but I am way too cheap.)

I have a 749, which is the "baby" 999.    It is a brilliant machine on the track, but, a bit of a torture device on the road for more than about 40 minutes.

Hey Turin, Great bike! I got mine a week or so after you and had to do the coolant tank fix, complete fuel system (in tank) replacement and full service. Couldn't be more pleased on looks and performance. What tires did you go with and what are the last numbers on your VIN?. I have number  000038.
