.... What were the rpm’s at a hundred?
Just went out to check. Looks like 5200 at "100" in top gear. I also took a GPS unit which showed 68 mph when the speedometer was reading 80.
Together, they suggest about 85 actual mph when the speedometer reads 100. Not surprising.
This is not to forget that these T3's are pretty fast for their day, with a two-way average speed of 116 found in a contemporary test at the MIRA facility in England. I myself used the tachometer and nearby milepost timings to calculate I had achieved
116 115* mph on a one-way run on a deserted Idaho highway, probably with some tail wind, long ago. So 85 is nothing to a T3.
It is probably better for an old fogey like me to think he is going near 100 when he is really going 85. Time makes me forget just how pitiful these old Veglias really are.
I wish I had a means of correcting that speedometer.
*[EDIT] I checked my log --the calculations worked out to 115.
