I don't usually like very many cafe bikes based on loop frames but that is a pretty nice bike.  Would like to have seen a side view of the bike without the dustbin fairing.

I saw the bike at the Hand Built sHow. It was stunning. I thought the engine was later model because of the alternator on the crank and the heads had studs on the exhaust clamps. As he stated dustbin parts. It doesn't matter because it's a unique build.

This bike was built out of my parts bins. I used later heads because they are more plentiful. The case was a bored out Eldo block with G5 barrels. The alternator was a neat trick, Tonti crank and Eldo timing gears...

Thanks Joe! Pix give a lot better idea of what parts he used.  There are a lot more Eldo parts there than I would have guessed just looking at the bike with the dustbin on it.   :thumb:

Piaggio/MG custom bike builds.
« Reply #17 on: January 08, 2018, 09:47:08 AM »
Beware. Aging mind stumbling about here.

Within the last few weeks I have seen 2 possible MG prototypes, built by independent custom design/builders. : https://ironandair.com/blogs/news/almost-famous  Shown on this list & elsewhere.

The 1st one I saw several weeks back, was built in Germany, by a well known constructor whose name I disremember. In the earlier article it was stated that Piaggio had contracted with 7 MC design/builders, some in Europe others in US; elsewhere? The purpose being to offer fresh ideas for what, so far, seems to be a possible new sport bike from MG! The link above, plus =   https://www.designboom.com/technology/rodsmith-motorcycles-moto-guzzi-dustbin-racer-05-11-2017/
Offer 2 versions of what Craig Rodsmith is capable of producing. Where are the others? Anybody?  R3~

They did this a few years back for the V7II (http://www.garagemotoguzzi.com/en/the-spark/) and it's more around creating a bunch of Harley like bolt on accessories for owners to add an "individual" note to their motorcycle, I wouldn't expect the resulting builds to lead to input on what a Guzzi sport bike might look like.

And would seem to me that for Piaggio, Aprillia = Sports/Performance/Modern design look, Guzzi = Cruiser/retro design cues. So if you mean sports bike as in Triumph Thruxton/ BMW R9T Racer I guess it's possible they may spice up the V7 Racer or create a V9 version but could be a while.

Hell the V9 X-Track concept's been shown two EICMA's in a row and no sign of that becoming a production model.

Here's a few shots that I took with Craig's V9 and my 977 cafe.

Joe? 'Art' it may be but it ain't ever going to run right, if at all, in that configuration. And why the weak gearbox for heavens sakes?

The man is obviously a skilled metalworker but a forcibly aspirated engine with carburettor float bowls vented to atmosphere does not suggest a working motorbike.

Some Tuesday eye candy:

Well, the jury is out for me as far as styling goes, but the workmanship is utterly without peer.
Now, if we could just get Him, Old Jock and Canuck 750 into the same shed in Mandello del Lario, that'd yield something very very special indeed.

I like it.

Don't know if I'd be so keen on polishing it & I wonder what it's like to sit on and ride

IMHO it's a very skillful well executed piece of work, not so keen on the instrument cluster

Funny that Jock.
Thought it would not have looked out of place in the cockpit of a WW1 Sopwith Camel.
(And that's not necessarily a criticism)
I did like his comment that being less than "perfect" gave it a character of identity peculiar to itself.
