I would love to attend The Datil Springs get together this year. It was a favorite of mine in the nineties and I’ll go if I can. Last year was my 10 year refresh on my Vintage, so I’ll be concentrating on the two Triumphs and maybe get started on my ‘63 VW Type I with available workshop time. We’ll see how it goes.

It's a great ride...beautiful area, and a fun Rally...and they also  give away a cool MOTO GUZZI every year to some lucky winner!  :1: :thumb:   It always draws about 75 Guzzisti from AZ, NM, CO, UT, TX, NORCAL and SOCAL and other states!  Photos from 2017:

Here is the current plan:

*  Cedar Vale, KS Guzzi NAR, May 3-6  (V)
*  BMW ROK Rally, Del Rio, TN, May 25-27
*  Western NY Guzzi, June 8-10  (V)
*  MN Guzzi, Grand Marais, MN, June 22-24  (V)
*  IA Guzzi, Elkader, IA, July 13-15
*  WI Guzzi, Lake Joy, WI, Aug 3-5
*  MI Guzzi, Traverse City, MI, Aug 17-19  (V)
*  ON Guzzi, Lavinge, ON, Aug 24-26  (V)
*  KY Guzzi, Frankfort, KY, Sept 20-23

The (V) at the end means I'll drive the Vette to that event.  I'll ride the bike to the others.  My wife will be traveling with me to Grand Marais, so it must be a motel event.  The others are expected to be tent camping.  I'll bum around the UP of MI and Canada during the week between the MI and ON rallies.  Looking forward to the coming year.

Ride safe out there.

Life's what happens while you're making other plans.
I always knew I'd get old.  How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though.

Leaving in May, with my Buddy and his Victory, to do the Zen ride . Atlanta up to Minneapolis, to start Pirsig's trip out to San Francisco. Rest a few days with the wives in Napa Valley, then head back to Ga, through Utah, CO and down thru NM.
Was supposed to be his 'retiring' ride, but they threw money and a month off to do the ride.
This ride was the reason I bought a Guzzi.
I have been really glad about that last part so far.

1.  There's Dusty's Deal at Cedar Vale in May.

2.  If any one is interested, I am putting together a Guzzi Arkansas weekend at the haunted  hotel in Harrison Ark.

Call the Hotel Seville, 870-741-2321. Book during the weekend of 17-20 May 2018 (17th is Thursday when I plan to get there, dates are flexible). Tell them you are part of the Motorcycle Group and get 15% discount.  My Queen Room is  $80/nite.

3. Seth's Moto Guzzi / BMW TOP O' THE ROCKIES Rally at Paonia Colorado.... 19-21 July.

4.  Dusty's Okie Campout (and Bigfoot Fest) in Talihina OK in Oct.

Wait , I'm putting on two rallies a year ? How in hell did that happen

Seriously , Cedar Vale and the Okie are the product of some real group efforts , it takes a village to raise a rally and all .

No Europe this year.
Early March will be heading to Pete Roper's place to buy him a nice meal and some of his preferred drop, as a bit of a thanks for his input to us in general and me in particular.
Might do a TB balance while there but not necessarily.
Then...
Meeting up with Ian (Bat 11) and heading Adelaide to Darwin, then my plan is to head West anticlockwise around Oz, or East and clockwise down East coast.

Get me the track bike and a track all in the same place at the same time, they've almost finished the extension at Collie if Wanneroo is ever open to bikes again who knows, for reasons I've yet to work out I got me a 110 Perentie to assist with this. Get rid of the worlds most beige sport bike (Aprilia).

Depending on what happens with the employment mid year I might even try and get to Italy end of sept I guess if I'm there I'll have to go to the Netherlands and see cheech and chong (nephews, they have names..... probably). Then does KTM get off its rear and bring the superduke GT up to the same specs as the superduke R? sit on my hands, or there are a couple of Guzzi powered Magni's up for sale in Japan although only the two valve versions.

There will be a bit of 1100 sport riding thrown in somewhere as well.

I expect to be working with Guzzi at Americade for the demo rides and what have you.
The downside is I'll miss the WNY rally which is in my backyard.

Harrison looks like fun, LowRyter. Will us guys on Californias fit in, or should we ride something sportier?

Nothing on the calendar except plenty of doctor visits. Iti staking longer than I thought for the 14 broken bones to heal.

Cedarvale is a must even if it is in the truck.

No complaints asd I'm doing better than a lot of folks. When I WALK out of the Dallas VA I realize that a thousand times over.

Is there a Guzzi scene at Daytona Bike Week? I ask because I live near Tampa and most of these get-togethers are on the other side of the country.

run whatcha brung.  Hope to see you there.

There's ample opportunity for sport riding, sightseeing, road food and a lake ferry crossing.  But no way I'll ride with you to Branson.

In late summer the LeMans forum hosts the Spineframe Rally in Tenn/NC.  We thought it was time to make the best of the Ozarks in May.   Like every Guzzi "rally" riding a Guzzi is optional.

"Guzzi" is more of an attitude than a motorcycle.

I'm planning on the Cottonwood meet as well as Lake Henshaw.  Depending on timing as it gets closer to August, maybe the Datil Springs.

Also, looking forward to another SS1000 or maybe a Bun Burner 1500, along with the Tour of Honor and some of the Big Money Rally.

Hopefully the wife and I can get away for a bit, but that will be on the Goldwing.

Riding weekends will probably include:

Iron Butt dinner in March in Jacksonville, FL
VA Guzzi Rally in June
Ohio Buckeye Guzzi rally in Zanesville, OH, Labor Day weekend
Georgia Guzzi Campout in Sept/Oct

Maybe the KY Guzzi rally? Perhaps the FJR Eastern Owners Meetup in either Maggie Valley, NC, or Williamsport, PA, toward the end of September. Would love to go gback to Western NY or Western MA, too.

No New Cumberland anymore for me.

Early May, ship the Stelvio and Stornello to Beverly Hills garage.
Wait until my brother flies from Finland to Los Angeles (mid May), meet him there and start riding east. 17 days.

LA-Malibu-CA1-Los Padres National Forest-Sequoia National Park-Death Valley (Titus Canyon Road for sure)-Las Vegas
Grand Canyon-Kaibab National Forest-Four Corners Monument-Durango-Silverton-Telluride

Get lost between Telluride and Denver as many times as possible.  :thumb: (Unfortunately we are there early and many of the gravel mountain passes are not yet open...duh...)

Head home through Denver-Nebraska-Kansas-Virginia-Lancaster, PA
Oh yeah... Eat BBQ in Kansas City. :thumb:

Any tips along the route greatly appreciated. (cool hotels/motels/places to eat/roads/scenery/monuments/bars/breweries etc...)

Please PM me.

what a great trip Green  :thumb:

In May you can get snow in the mountains in Col and Grand Canyon but if you're from Finland.....ahhhh nevermind.  Mt Evans and Pikes Peak might be closed.

So far as Jeep trails  and the like, I got my taste of it around Ouray and man, be careful. Stelvio is a big bike and I was too inexperienced to enjoy myself in a Jeep.   Moab it pretty neat,  Arches Nat'l Park.  The Cliff Dwellers at Mesa Verde.  Crested Butte is neat isolated town and Breckenridge is nice town not so isolated.  Aspen and Vail are way beyond my paygrade.
