Vintage Luggage options
« on: January 03, 2015, 08:25:15 PM »
I am working on a 1979 1000SP. It wi be my primary road bike for the summer until I can ride my V Strom back to Alaska from California.  I was wondering what options there are for luggage that looks period correct. Any help appreciated

Krauser saddlebags would seem to be appropriate, I had them on my '79 G5.

The police style hard cases on some of the Guzzi models had some nice lines.

I like the rounded square luggage of the Golden Arrow Craven cases that I fixed up and fitted to my Classic.

Anybody got a set of vintage bags that would look good on my 1991 LeMans 1000?

On the subject of Vintage Luggage, and SP's methinks that the lunchbox cases maybe as close to aestetically correct for a SP as it can get.
Not  practical or sturdy but can  carry a laptop, , a couple books or 6 packs .  I also thought he bracket set for the Tontis as in G5/Vert/ T/3 etc always seemed a bit too low hanging and convoluted  so I sliced and diced and with a bit of TIG  and powder coating I ended up with what you see in the pics.

I can post a pic of the bracket when I get home.

Might be able to strike a deal with ya Guzzista for your seat if I can get these sold!

Hi Mike,

IDK but here's how newer stuff looks on my LMIV.  And, yes, I've been told I should paint the inserts red or white or both or remove them & the rack.

Oops, you might have to click on the pic to see the whole thing, I'm somewhat tech challenged.

20 MM ammo cans work pretty good on Hepco Becker mounts.
They never go out of style.

Those look pretty good on that bike. What size boxes are those and what does the side portion of the rack look like?

I ride with Acmemoto2 panniers and they have saved my bike several times. Not very vintage yet for some reason they look pretty good on my SP.
